Madhubabu - Horrors of Darkness 29 13 5MB Read more I'll admit, I'm a little biased because I think that Monte Cook is somehow Gygax reincarnated before he died and would drink the mans bath water. But that horrible image aside, The Book of Vile Darkness gets a lot of hate but I never understood why. The spells are all pretty decent ( maybe not dance of ruin) , it gives you a ton of new ideas for items, the corrupted locations are all awesome and can be jammed into any campaign,it gives you an entire breakdown of the demonic pantheons.( that just might be my fetish for planescape causing bias though), the prestige classes are pretty cool if you're going demon/devil heavy in your game, and the optional rules (i.e. sacrificial rituals) are things that any campaign with an evil character eventually wants to know. On the flip side, I hear very little about the Book of Exalted Deeds and it's along the same line. So, what am I missing?

Can the Book of Vile Darkness be destroyed?It is believed that the Book of Vile Darkness cannot permanently be destroyed as long as evil exists in the multiverse. A creature who possesses the book for a hundred years can find a phrase hidden within its text, which if spoken in Celestial destroys both the book and its owner.
