The scale does not lie, people do Reddit

On the one hand. I found the book informative in many new ways (And it's not the first or last book I have ever read on diet and nutrition). I like the emphasis on the mental/lifestyle aspects of losing weight , and the fact that he at least starts the conversation on enablers. His approach is much more whole person /family system based. If you ever watch intervention, they sometimes send the family members of the addict to treatment for codependency (Sean's mother badly needed that !)

On the other hand, he writes the same way he talks and the grammar and spelling are awful (along with some pretty funny spell-check induced wrong word errors). I'd edit the thing for free because I very strongly believe in his message.

Without doubt, some of you have gotten the book. I only read the preview of the Kindle version because, to be frank, I consider $25 for a Kindle book too expensive. However, the preview was interesting. But it also left many questions open. He believes in the scale, in "calories in, calories out" (well, that's how it works, I'm not exactly surprised) but repeatedly rejects "eat less, exercise more" as a solution for obesity. But he does not offer any better solution, at least not in the preview. I'm really curious about that, especially considered the book's second title ("Reversing obesity in the 21st century") and his own claim that, on a global scale, 1 in 3 persons is overweight or obese. For most people on this planet, weight loss surgery will never be an option. Last but not least, I was truly surprised about his criticism of the theory of evolution and that he subscribes to some intelligent design. If Schenee knew...

To all of you who have read the entire book, what are your thoughts?

The scale does not lie, people do Reddit

I follow Dr. Now on Instagram and his most recent post says there’s only a few copies of his book “The Scale Does Not Lie, People Do” left.

Has anyone here had the chance to read it, and if so would you recommend getting a copy of the book? It’s on the pricey side which is why I’m hesitant to immediately buy it.

The scale does not lie, people do Reddit

level 1

I have it and even if you see it as a collectible of the show, pick it up.

The recipes and instruction are well done. I’m no 600 pounder, but this is a good way to prep good meals and practices to be healthy and drop some weight.

level 2

Is it signed/autographed?

level 1

I bought the signed copy a few munts ago. I was over the moon excited since I’m a big fan. The book explains that someone who’s 200 pounds, can lose 8 pounds a month on da diet. I lost 13 in 2 weeks. Then I started slacking. I eat healthy for the most part, and then I binge on the stuff that’s a no no, like pasta and bread. I intend on getting the 200 dollar Cameo from him when I get to my goal weight.

level 1

Does it cost turtie pound dis mund?

level 2

Funny enough the cost of a signed copy is $45. If you convert that into British pounds it’s roughly 32 pounds… close enough to “turtie pound” lol.

level 1

I have not, sorry, but I wonder if your library might have it? And if another one in the region does, they can order it in for you so you can pick up at your local branch (I just learned this recently!)

level 2

Inter-library loan is the best!!

That book is self-published which will make many libraries hesitant to buy it. Hopefully since he is a “celebrity” they might buy it anyway.

There was a post about the book a few months ago where someone pointed out some typos, but I don’t recall the commentary on the content itself.

Weird question but can scales sometimes lie(like there is something wrong with it)?

level 2

Analog scales need to be recalibrated, especially after a lot of uses by heavy people/things, or by people/kids who like to jump on and off, or by people who think they need to bounce on the scale. I was a nurse for years in a private practice and it's ridiculous how some people get on and off scales. IT'S NOT A FUCKING MOON BOUNCE LINDA.

level 2

My scales start to give out false readings or the number jumps up and down without settling when the battery is about to die.

level 2

yes for sure! just ask every participant on the show ever. They will swear on a stack of bibles held by their dear grandmothers that the scale is lying. If that is not proof I don't know what is.

level 2

My son stood on ours the other day and it said 40 pounds. He's an adult, I don't think that was very accurate. Lol

level 2

Yes, this actually happened to me at a doctor's office with an analog scale. I weighed in far less than my actual weight and was accused of having an eating disorder. I said the scale must be wrong, and got laughed at. Went back the next day and asked to be weighed again, it showed I'd "gained" 15 lbs. The doctor ended up apologizing. Said it was rare, but it happens.

level 2

I have found each scale tends to differ slightly. I have 'lost' a kilo before from switching. So if you gain or lose when using a new one don't be too shocked.

level 2

Depending on where you live, your county might have a sealer of weights and measures who can help. If not, find out who tests and certifies the deli scales at supermarkets. (There’s usually a sticker on the scale)

level 2

I think with reg bathroom scales they can be off I used to have one that was 5 lbs higher then the actual weight because we also had a drs scale downstairs in our basement and that one was 100 percent accurate I knew when I weighed myself on the scale we had that drs offices had that there was no debate it was right because most of the time when I'd go to the Dr it'd say the same
