Too many passcode attempts Apple Watch Reddit

I’ve tried everything I can dig up on the internet to fix this issue with nothing working. My watch isn’t paired with my iPhone anymore (don’t know why). Given this, I tried the holding down the lower “power” button until the power slider pops up. I push on the screen firmly to have the “erase all content” button pop up. When I click on this a confirmation screen pops up and I click on the green check button to proceed. The watch then has a spinning wheel pop up, then after a little bit it’s rebooted. BUT the too many passcodes screen still pops up. It’s done this a dozen or so times already.

Anyone got any ideas on how this fix this?

Hi r/applewatch,

I have searched similar posts but have not found an answer that has resolved my issue and was curious if anyone could offer any help. My Apple Watch is locked and giving a "Too Many Passcode Attempts Reset Apple Watch and pair again" message and I have searched through articles and posts that said the thing to do was put the Apple Watch on its charger, then press and hold the side button until you see Power Off. Press and hold the Digital Crown, then tap Reset.

In this process, when I hold down the side button, I get the prompt for the Power Off button, but when I then hold down the Digital Crown, instead of an option to reset, I am again met with the "Too Many Passcode Attempts Reset Apple Watch and pair again." message. Anyone have any advice on what else I could do? I have also already tried holding down the Power Off button to get the prompt to erase all settings. Doing this changed nothing.

Thanks for reading

I put my Apple Watch in my pocket at work and now it’s stuck on “too many passcode attempts reset and pair again” screen.

I know the passcode, it’s not giving me any option to enter it.

I tried to reset if via the iPhone app but it says it failed and now the app has completely forgotten about it.

I am trying to reset it by holding the button in, but it always reboots rather than giving me the shutdown screen. I am doing this while the charger is connected.

Per the instructions I am not touching the crown, the crown button isn’t stuck in, it’s not dirty, theres no lotion on it.

I still cannot get into my watch.

Thoughts anyone ?

Too many passcode attempts Apple Watch Reddit

Like many of us I take my watch off and keep it in my pocket only to put it back on and be greeted with the "too many password attempts" and then have to go through the fucking stupid process of resetting my watch.

Its driving me crazy and I need Apple Pay, is there a solution?

Shut it down before you put it in your pocket.

You can use touch accommodations and set the tripple click shortcut on the crown. With 1-2s activation time unintentional presses should not be a problem.

To me it sounds like Apple is more concerned about your financial security then you are sorry to say. Personally I’m happy to have to go through a few steps to overcome this type of issue. It’s only Apple being a bit overprotective, sort of like your mum.

level 2

To reset my watch i had to download 6gb worth of updates to my phone on a speed of 256kb/s it took my watch out of action for several days. Resetting is fucking stupid, it was still paired to my phone and icloud a simple login and unlock would have been all it needed, instead of a factory wipe.

level 1

Go into settings and turn off passcode.

I personally leave it on, it’s just a 4 digit passcode (simple passcode turned on) and I hardly ever have to enter it since I have the option to unlock with my iPhone enabled.

Annoyingly if you want to use Apple Pay you cannot turn passcode off. I just want to stop it forcing a reset after 6 attempts.

I updated my Apple Watch Series 4 overnight to 5.2.1 while it was charging on my nightstand. This morning I put it on and the screen read "Too many passcode attempts reset Apple Watch and pair again." I unpaired from the phone and now the phone acts like there is no watch paired to it. The watch continues to read the above message. When I hold the side button, the watch just goes into a reboot cycle without prompting me to power off and therefore I cannot erase all data on the watch itself. It just powers off and shows the apple logo directly without any prompts and then goes back to showing the above message. Anyone have any ideas?

How many times can you try Apple Watch passcode?

To protect your information if your watch is lost or stolen, you can set Apple Watch to erase its data after 10 consecutive attempts to unlock it using the wrong passcode.
