Tuff torq tzt7 m vs hydro gear

I'm looking into getting a higher-end residential Zero Turn Mower. Comparing engines, Hydro-drives, etc

And most seem to come with Hydro-Gear brand drives (even the lower JD models). But the JD model that compares to the Hustler I'm considering uses Tuff-Turf hydros.

Anyone have any experience with them?

Any other input? I'm looking to spend about $5k

Here is the link to their drive systems...
Just like Hydro-Gear they have different applications for different units...
Under lawn and garden they list 2 commercial units, 2 professional grade units, and 2 residential units...
I would guess each category matches the corresponding Hydro-Gear unit...
      Products - Tuff Torq

I must suggest you must check Ariens IKON X 52 its has three blades which gives a quality performance and capable to do heavy task duty and its pocket friendly. Its engine features an iron cylinder liner for durability, it also comes with an automatic compression release that ensures easy starting and ventilation of the carburetor for efficient fuel consumption.I hope this might help you out

Hello Buggs, Well I went with the zt3100 on my hustler, currently at 186 hr with a change on oil and filter (cost was over 160$ in material labour on top) but bad experience with the JD units in the past with the Tuff Torq units in the area. There are 3-4 units in the area that are being used by the locals that have issues and can not be serviced or when they can only last about 200 hrs. before they are back to the same problems of over heating and get jammed up. IMO go with what ever you can service and get parts for! Hydro Gear is American and parts more common, the zt3100 is the base commercial unit, IMO allowing you to run 6-8 hours a day. Good luck, the hydros were the first thing I looked at when purchasing a unit prior to who is selling what model or the price. I went with a Fastrak SD with a honda engine and only a 48" cut, yes a smaller deck allowing me to get it thru the gates, plus since no commercial guys wanting a smaller unit meant a better price for me(saved me $2000) over the 52-60-72" units where the 52 would have been more than enough for me, but my thought was so that is an extra 4 - 8 strips over the other with less scalping. Now looking at flex forks and a suspension seat, with the monies saved I can afford the extras soon. Good luck!

Thanks! I got the Hustler SDX to get the better drive units (3100 vs 2800) in 54. I'd go 60 but it wouldn't fit in my trailer.
