"We've been waiting for you all summer and we're so glad you're finally here!" I’m not sure what a sorority is, but I believe it may be a portal to hell. That is what the utterly terrifying ‘sorority girl meme’ has taught me. There’s a good chance you’ve already seen the video in question. It’s been around before. This article is not for you, meme archivist! The video is already crackling with grim voodoo, a perfect window into a nightmare world, of blonde wiggling fingers inviting you into their world of despair. We stan! Look, just watch it again. It’s horrific.
Say it with me: “We’ve been waiting for you all summer, and we’re SO glad you’re finally here!” *UNEARTHLY SCREECH OF THE DAMNED* Boom-boom indeed. BUT, because humanity is drawn to tinker with even forces best left untouched, people have started fiddling with the original video, making some dang funny memes. A lot of them are just acknowledging the concentrated dark energy inside this meme.
But others have actually moved past the nightmare situation, and made it slap!
Some people are just getting real specific with it.
Or, if you’ve seen Jordan Peele’s Us, please enjoy this. He certainly did.
"We've been waiting for you all summer.."Growing up, your ideas of college were probably way off, because they were based on American shows like Hellcats and movies like Legally Blonde. You probably thought you'd live in huge dorms and that you'd be part of a sorority. But after seeing this video online, we're pretty glad that the closest thing to a sorority we have are clubs and societies. Alpha Delta Pi is a sorority in the University of Texas, who are taking in new members for the new semester, starting on Monday. The girls put together a video to "welcome" the new girls, but we reckon anyone who sees this before starting at the college will have second thoughts about joining.
We're not sure which scares us more: the overly happy greeters at the door, the herd of girls waiting behind the doors, or the strange song lyrics, which, by the way go, like this:
After the video was shared on Twitter, users reacted accordingly. All we can say is we're very glad we chose to stay in Ireland for our studies. |
