Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews

Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A really good museum well worth the short walk out of the town centre. Housed in a Victorian barracks it has an eclectic mix of exhibits including Victorian rooms (bedroom, kitchen parlour etc.), old workplaces and a schoolroom, the museum of the North Lincolnshire Regiment and a collection of old farm machinery including traction engines. A lot on WW 1 tanks, first designed in Lincolnshire. It's free as well (donation requested).

  • There are so many interdependent shops, cafes and restaurants to choose from in a place that feels like going back in time.

  • This museum has been on my to do list for a few years. The Heritage Centre celebrates the history of RAF Scampton and the famous 617 Dam Busters squadron, which is still active, but now based at a different station.
The centre is staffed by mainly ex-RAF service people and very much benefits from their passion for the subject and sense of duty and history. There were some great insights and anecdotes along the way which bring the service and those who served in it to life! The sacrifices made by very young men become even more poignant.
I was sad to hear the the airfield has been sold and that the future of the Heritage Centre is uncertain. Given that the Dam Busters is one of the most famous squadrons and unique missions that the RAF has ever carried out, a way must be found to preserve as much of the extensive and historical collection as possible, as well as Guy Gibson's office and other parts of the hangar.
Visits, where possible have to be arranged in advance for security reasons, see the RAF Scampton web page.

Stayed 2 nights at the Council run campsite in Hartsholme Country Park. Nice site with mainly grass pitches, basic but clean facilities. The country park was lovely with plenty of walks

  • The museum is free to enter and opens at 10am but it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The exhibits give an excellent history of the area going back to prehistoric times. There is something for all ages including a very amusing robot that moves around the museum and interacts with children of all ages giving additional information.

  • We stop off here on our way from fishing trips further south. We have breakfast and I have to say, you would struggle to get a better breakfast anywhere. Lovely quality food, excellently cooked and presented.

The park is beautiful and generally very well and neatly kept. Unfortunately recently some irresponsible dog owners have left dog excrement lying around and there is often litter lying about thanks to selfish and careless louts! But it is definitely worth a visit for the beautiful trees and gardens.

  • Found this place on my way home from my weekend away. Lovely store, clean and well organised. All the staff I met were friendly. I didn’t stop for food but from I saw when I walked through the restaurant the food and cakes looked lovely. Again well organised and clean. Just one niggle. It’s the first garden centre I’ve visited which isn’t dog friendly. Would have stayed longer but my partner was waiting with my dog in car and getting impatient

  • A small but really interesting museum presenting the history of brave people who were based here during World War II. The museum is situated in the old control tower which gives you views over the runways.
