Metals are chemical elements and substances found everywhere in the universe. They’re best known for being ductile, malleable and reflective, and conducting electricity and heat. You can’t make the Metal element in the game without understanding that metals are most commonly found, when not in a standalone or free state form, embedded in mineral materials like stones and rocks. The following steps outline how this knowledge helps you to make Metal: 1. Make a Mineral BaseSome types of stones form from the application of pressure against the earth over time. They also form when organic materials and mineral particles become cemented together. As a result, you can make Stone by applying pressure to the earth as follows:

Melt Metals Found in StonePeople learned through the ages how to extract metals from stone ore by applying fire and heat to break down everything in the stone except metals through chemical transformation. In the real world, this process, known as smelting, can take hours and involves careful, hot, hard work. In “Little Alchemy 2,” the process is easy once you have the Stone element:

Hard, soft, shiny, dull, liquid, solid; it can do it all!” You can also make metal by applying heat to stone in a different way. If you don’t already have the Heat element, perform the following element combinations:
The Heat icon, three golden wavy lines, pops up on the screen with the words “A quality of either increased temperature, feeling, social standing, or police presence.” Now that you have Heated, you simply drop and drag it onto the Stone element to make Metal! 3. Alternative Ways to Make MetalAlthough you can define all ore technically as stone or rock, not all stones or rocks are ores. These types of stones and rocks contain valuable minerals that humans can only access through mining and other extraction processes. In “Little Alchemy 2,” you can use the Ore element to make Metal as well. If you don’t already have Ore in your collection, you actually need the Hammer element, which you can only collect if you have the Tool element:

The Ore icon, a multi-shaded tan rock, appears with the words “Rock-encased minerals that enterprising individuals and/or shady conglomerates extract via mining.” You then make Metal by simply combining Ore with elements that relate to the smelting process:
Why Is Metal Beneficial in “Little Alchemy 2”?After humans started making tools during the Stone Age, they began to also rely upon metals to survive and evolve. Rare, shiny metals like gold and silver became symbols of wealth and power. They were even linked to healing and improved health. Humans also used metals to craft tools like hammers, pitchforks, and plows that made it possible for them to build better shelters and progress from mainly foragers and hunters to farmers and ranchers. As they mastered metals, including iron, they discovered that they could mix them and make alloys such as steel. These new metals were durable, rust-resistant, and malleable, which meant that alloys could handle exposure to moisture and time longer without the same level of deterioration as natural metals. It also meant that people could shape them into amazing new, useful forms. Without human innovation with metals, people would have never created wire. The desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone that you’re using to read this post wouldn’t exist. Other modern conveniences that people take for granted, such as light bulbs, boilers, fire extinguishers, refrigerators, cars, airplanes, trains, and even mousetraps, also wouldn’t exist. In fact, the point of self-discovery is to find out new and exciting things at your own pace. The game offers you many opportunities for exploration. By combining metal-related elements with other elements, you can discover all sorts of fascinating things. For example, you can find Mars with Rust and a Piggy Bank with Gold.
