At Oura, your feedback fuels innovation and positive change. You’ve asked. We’ve listened. Powered by green LEDs, Daytime Heart Rate measurement is one of the most requested features, and it will now be available with the new Oura Ring Generation 3.
Whether you’re trying to manage your stress or improve your fitness, understanding how your resting heart rate develops over time is crucial to follow — and Daytime Heart Rate helps you do just that. Your heart rate is a window into how your body reacts to your choices during the day. And, with Daytime Heart Rate, we are extending our metrics to the waking hours with heart rate & Restorative Time. Measuring heart rate is not easy. The further away you
are from your arteries, the harder it is to get good data from the heart. While other wrist-based wearables tend to measure from the capillaries on the top of your wrist, Oura measures from the arteries in your fingers for more accurate readings. Follow this flow to get started:What’s New?
How to Use the Feature
1. Open your Oura App, and look for the Feature Onboarding Card for Daytime HR on your first day of use.
2. Tap the card, and start the Feature Onboarding Flow. This will introduce the Daytime HR, Restorative Time, and Live HR — with explanations for each feature.
3. After you start using the feature, you will see it represented as a card on your Home View. Your measured heart rate is shown on the graph, and a white average line is drawn for your heart rate measurements. Sleep and restful periods are highlighted in different colors.
4. The card will also show your last known heart rate and the last known heart rate icon. By tapping the heart icon, you can have the ring show live readings for 10 seconds.
5. Next, is your Heart Rate Detail View. Tap on the card, and your Detail view will always display a full 24-hour graph for the day in question, starting with your nightly sleep on the left and filling out the rest of the day towards the right as new measurements come in.
6. Finally, when you want to learn more, check out your relevant graph/data for the day in question. The dynamic education views help you visually match your graph to new patterns.
