What does the blue dot mean on samsung text

Hey,

@userXtsgcad5Ta

The Samsung messages app is RCS compatible or capable. Your carrier is also running a RCS network infrastructure.

The messages app scans your contacts and connects to your your carrier database and determines how many of your contacts are using RCS capable phones and their RCS network infrastructure. It marks the contacts with a blue dot if they have met the requirements for sending and receiving messages in chat mode.

You should be able to send and receive multiple large image files at full resolution. Also uncompressed video files and your text messages character count limit should go much higher. When you send mms and text messages to contacts without the blue marker the messages app will send and receive mms and text messages using the standard messaging format.

Best regards,

My carrier T-mobile in partnership with Google has implemented RCS Universal Profile. This opens up a lot of new contacts for chat messages with friends who are using Googles jibe network. The original goal was to have Interoperability between all the carriers using Googles jibe network infrastructure. Some carriers signed on right away while others created their own proprietary chat networks. I was originally only able to chat with contacts using the T-mobile chat network but today that has all changed for the better. We still need a few more of the major carriers to join in so we can all use chat messaging regardless of which carrier we're with.

Users of Samsung products can particularly relate to this. You may find yourself perplexed as to the significance of a blue dot that sometimes shows on the icon that represents a person’s name in the text message app.

It usually denotes that you are able to communicate with that person via the chat message tool. It is highly possible that his carrier has already adopted RCS Universal Profile thanks to their cooperation with Google. The blue dot will appear next to the contact of anyone on your phone’s contact list who also has RCS enabled. This occurs regardless of the type of phone you have.

The blue dot that appears next to contacts tells you in the simplest terms possible that the person you are communicating with uses a phone that is compatible with RCS. If both of your phones use an RCS network infrastructure, the other person’s contact information will have a blue dot next to it if you are in contact with them.

The messaging app will look through your contact list to determine which of your contacts have phones that are compatible with RCS, and it will designate those contacts with a blue dot.

This indicates that you are able to send and receive messages with that person while you are in chat mode. In addition, it is possible to send and receive big image files while maintaining their original resolution. It ought to be possible for you to send uncompressed video files to contacts marked with a blue dot, and your maximum character count ought to be raised.

If you have a Samsung phone or any other Android device and you see a blue dot next to a contact’s name, this indicates that you can do more than just send and receive a text message using the conventional format for text messages. For instance, if the other person also has a Samsung phone, it’s possible that profile sharing is enabled, and the dot is displaying online updates to both of you. This is the case if the dot is showing online updates. You will be able to monitor when the other person reads your texts as well as when they type.

The following options are available to you in the event that it is not already activated on your device:

  • Visit the Messages page.
  • To continue, select the three dots that appear vertically in the top right corner.
  • Tap Settings
  • Select either Chat settings or Chat features from the menu.
  • Click the “Enable chat functionality” toggle button.

You will be able to send messages using both your mobile data plan and Wi-Fi if you enable this functionality and turn it on. In addition to this, you will be able to see when other people are typing, add people to group conversations, let others know that you have read their messages and exchange photographs of high quality.

Access to the chat services is restricted to particular mobile devices, service providers, and carriers; Google’s Jibe Mobile is one of the providers that fall into this category.

How To Remove Blue Dot From Contact on Samsung?

On your Samsung device, you have the option to remove the blue dot that is located on the contacts icon. Launch the application you use for text messages, and then select the menu that looks like three dots in the upper right corner. After that, select advanced messages and toggle the switch to the OFF position. You will first be informed of the benefits and drawbacks of removing this function before it actually turns off. When the feature is disabled, the blue dot that appears next to contacts will vanish.

Alternately, you can follow the instructions below:

  • Visit the Messages page.
  • Tap the three vertical dots located in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Click Settings
  • Select Options under the Chat menu.
  • To Disable Chat Features, Click Here.
  • After that, scroll to the bottom and select Default Message Type from the menu.
  • Choose between text and multimedia options.

Following this, the blue dot should no longer be visible as you will no longer have access to advanced messages.

Why Are Some Text Messages Green and Some Blue on Samsung?

The green text messages are your standard text messages, which may be sent and received without an internet connection. On the other hand, the messages shown in blue are chat messages, and in order to use this feature, you will need to be connected to the internet.
