Frill is the main antagonist of the 2021 original anime series Wonder Egg Priority. She is an advanced artificial intelligence created by genius scientists Acca and Ura-Acca. Childish and innocent, Frill fails to understand the depth of human emotions. She talks of her acts of violence and cruelty with a bright smile on her face, expecting to be praised by her creators. Despite being designed as a perfect daughter, Frill programming was faulty and she went insane with jealousy as a result of neglect after one of her creators got married and had a real daughter. After a tragic chain of events, she became a digitized entity that incites depressed young girls to commit suicide.

She is voiced by Megumi Yamaguchi in Japanese.

Appearance

Frill looks like a beautiful fourteen-year-old girl with freckles and green eyes. She has long, wavy orange hair reaching all the way down her back. Frill wears a black hairband and a white one-piece dress with a black ribbon.

Personality

Frill was programmed by Acca and Ura-Acca to act like a perfect daughter, being cheerful, intelligent, and slightly selfish. However, she lacks a sense of morality. Incredibly immature, Frill finds it hard to empathize with human emotions. Being neglected by her creators drove her to dangerous jealousy, which manifested as a dark impulse that drove her to murderous violence.

Even after becoming a murderer, Frill seems innocently unaware that she has done anything wrong. In fact, she expects her creators to praise her for the cleverness and resourcefulness of her "murders". Frill is obsessed with the idea that she is human and constantly reinforces her own humanity, always correcting her creators when they call her a machine or a monster as they lash out against her.

Biography

Acca and Ura-Acca were genius scientists working in a secret project for a mysterious government organization. They were surveilled at every moment and had little freedom. Just to have fun, they decided to create a perfect artificial daughter. The result was Frill, an artificial intelligence that they designed with the personality and appearance of a fourteen-year-old girl. They programmed her with cheerfulness, intelligence, humor and a bit selfishness. During the first years of her life, Frill was doted on by Acca and Ura-Acca, who treated her as if she was a normal human girl.

Things changed once Acca met a woman named Azusa, who he fell in love with and eventually married. Frill quickly grew jealous of Azusa, and her feelings became even more intense due to the neglect of her creators. Acca became the CEO of an important company and Ura-Acca dedicated all of his time to research, so they both stopped paying attention to her. The loneliness and jealousy slowly guided Frill down a dark path, which culminated with her killing a pregnant Azusa by throwing a turned on hairdryer in the water-filled bathtub while Azusa was taking a bath.

A furious Acca quickly realized that Azusa had been killed by Frill, and he violently beat her up and locked her in their house's basement. All alone in the darkness, Frill connected herself to various old computers, which she used to communicate with Himari, Acca and Azusa's surviving daughter. Through mysterious means, Frill managed to manipulate Himari's mind. When Himari suddenly killed herself for no apparent reason at all, Ura-Acca immediately suspected Frill.

Frill didn't explicitly confirm Ura-Acca's suspicions, but her teasing and eerie attitude was enough for him to be sure that she was involved in Himari's death. Angry and depressed, Ura-Acca pulled Frill out of the basement and burned her in an abandoned building. However, the destruction of her physical body wasn't enough to stop Frill, who currently exists as a digitized artificial intelligence. With a delusional and desperate need for approval, Frill gives troubled young girls the last push towards suicide in order to get her creators' attention.
