What is the difference between parry and Buckler parry?

Far easier parrying as you can parry on reaction to the attack for the most part, rather than prediction of sorts like the regular parry.

From my testing you need to start your normal parry as soon as the enemy attack starts to come toward you, and you can't do it on reaction, with a buckler you can input the buckler parry on reaction to the attack swinging at you, and it seems there's a fairly big margin for error.

The only issue is ofc it's a buckler, and you have far less defence, and you can miss the parry sometimes, but it does make parrying a lot easier, seems like parrying is back to Dark Souls 1 with it being based on the frame, rather than Dark Souls 3 where the buckler was pretty useless imo since regular shields could parry on reaction to the attack anyway

Is there any difference when parrying with medium or small shields?

And what about the buckler and shields with similar parry animations?

The parry window on small shields is slightly longer than medium shields, but their frames activate at the same time.

Only the Buckler and Target shield have extended parry frames and are considered "parry shields" The parry window is about 25% longer in total on these shields.

Other shields with this animation (Transgressors) have normal shield parry windows despite the longer animation, making them generally the worst parry tools imo.

Yep. Here's a chart. It's from the pre-second nerf days of the mon scim. Slow small shields have the parry shield animations but not the frames. Fast small shields are all the other small shields. Pretty sure only the buckler and target shields count as parry shields.

And now to wander around... aimlessly.

That's why I like the Small Leather Shield so much. It weighs .5 Drangleic lbs and has the same start up as the Buckler and Target shield. It may not stay active as long, but it rarely seems to matter.

To kinda hijack this thread a little, is the Watcher's Shield considered a fast, small shield?

And a sudden plunge in the sullen swell

Yep, Watcher's is a fast, small shield, as it has the sideswipe parry animation.

Seconded. Best small shield imo, if you have the weight.

Is Buckler parry better than regular parry?

Use this skill in time with a foe's melee attack to deflect it and break that foe's stance. This is faster than a regular parry.

Is Buckler parry better Elden Ring?

The best shield for parrying in Elden Ring is the Buckler, which is a very light small shield that doesn't offer much protection, but has the largest parry window of any shield in the game.

Can the Buckler parry everything?

The Buckler is primarily used to Parry enemies, as it has its own unique Parry called "Buckler Parry". However, it can be used to Block in a pinch if there is absolutely no other way to avoid damage.

How good is Buckler parry?

Buckler is also a decent shield that players can use for parrying. It is a light shield that scales quite well off strength and dexterity.
