What is the music that plays at the beginning of Yellowstone?

Whether you’ve been with it from the very beginning or only decided to dive in recently, chances are you’ve found the hype for Yellowstone inescapable. Over the years, it’s grown to become one of the most popular shows in recent memory. The return with each season is always eagerly anticipated and surrounded by widespread speculation.

Created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, the American neo-Western drama began premiering in 2018 and its homes on both the Paramount Network and, now, Paramount Plus, have become hot destinations for TV fanatics.

Immersing audiences in the conflicts along the borders of a large cattle ranch, an Indian reservation, and land developers, the series has actually been soundtracked by a number of talented musicians.

Fortunately, the series returned for a fifth season on Sunday, November 13th 2022 and a musical group helped kick things off with a bang. So, let’s focus a lens on the band on Yellowstone’s season 5 premiere.

‘I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished’

Shane previously spoke with American Highways and the interviewer asked him what he thinks he’d be doing if he weren’t a musician:

“I don’t think I could ever let go of this side of me. It’s become such a big part of me: writing music, expressing stories and thoughts through lyrics and melody. It’s something I’m very passionate about…I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished and the things I’ve had to go through. The rest of the guys I’m sure feel the same way.”

He continued: “When you go through some difficult times and trying situations to accomplish something, and you come out on the other side, you take a lot of pride in that.”

Boosting its reputation as the number-one show on cable television, Yellowstone's Season Five premiere broke records for the series—wrangling over 12.1 million viewers. It was the biggest opening night ever for the Kevin Costner-led drama, thanks to a simulcast of the premiere on the Paramount Network, CMT, and TV Land. Premiering its first two episodes back-to-back, Yellowstone Season Five is just beginning its massive order of 14 episodes. The series follows John, Beth, Rip, Jamie, and Kayce as they navigate a contentious gubernatorial election, a growing threat from outsiders, and one hell of a blackmail situation between two Dutton siblings.

The new season of Yellowstone continues Paramount's expansion of the Taylor Sheridan universe following the Yellowstone prequel, 1883. The franchise recently announced 1923, a sequel to the 1883 prequel. (Yes, it's... confusing). The new spinoff, starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, is set to premiere on December 18, meaning that there's plenty to binge after you finish the core series. In the meantime, Yellowstone Season Five is still coming in guns blazing, as the Duttons navigate how to leverage their new political power to try and save their family ranch. Watch the foreboding trailer below, then read on for everything we know about Season Five of Yellowstone.
