Put on your best green outfit and attend the annual Naples St. Patrick’s Day Parade and an all-day festival at Sugden Plaza. The parade dates back to the period when local Irishmen got together and decided to organize a march. It is now the largest private St.Patrick's event in the state and draws over 40,000 people. The Naples St. Patrick Foundation sponsors it.

The Naples St. Patrick's Day Parade features floats, fire engines, school groups, marching bands, dance troupes, and more. The parade's staging area is located at Saint Ann’s Church in Old Naples. The show starts there at 11 a.m. and then travels down 3rd Street South to 5th Avenue, it goes down 8th Street South to end at Crayton Cove. Many spectators wear green and festive clothes. Kids love to catch candy and other goodies from the participants of the parade.

The flag raising ceremony is held at 9:30 a.m. before the parade at The Dock Restaurant at Crayton Cove. The ceremony honors veterans and public safety personnel.

The parade is sponsored by the the Naples St. Patrick foundation, a non-profit charitable organization.

The Parade will begin at the corner of 3rd Street South and 10th Avenue, then turn east onto Fifth Avenue South and then south on 8th Street South and finish in front of Naples City Hall. Parking: The city suggests parking in the two downtown parking garages. Plan to arrive early. Road closures: 5th Avenue South will be closed 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 3rd Avenue will be closed 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Naples: What you need to know

Naples will be decked out in all its green glory Saturday for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. on 10th Avenue South. It then will go north onto Third Street South, then to Fifth Avenue South, before ending by moving east onto Eighth Street South.

Road closures will include Fifth Avenue South from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Third Street South from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
