The 2022 MLB Trade Deadline has come and gone and a number of teams pulled off big moves ahead of the first year of the expanded post-season format. Show The San Diego Padres were arguably the busiest team, headlined by the Juan Soto blockbuster and a trade for all-star closer Josh Hader. The Yankees were also very busy, acquiring depth at all positions, including in the rotation with Frankie Montas. The Blue Jays shored up their own pitching staff with three pitchers, including Mitch White from the Dodgers, then shocked everyone by grabbing two-time all-star utilityman Whit Merrifield just before the deadline passed. Braves add closer Raisel Iglesias Atlanta Braves receive: RHP Raisel Iglesias Several teams were linked to Iglesias, including the Toronto Blue Jays, before the deal with Atlanta came to fruition. The 27-year-old was Los Angeles’ second-round pick in the 2016 MLB Draft and has a 3-5 record with a 3.58 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP since making the move to the big leagues in 2020. Twins give bullpen a boost, adding Fulmer from Tigers Minnesota Twins receive: RHP Michael Fulmer Fulmer was one of several Tigers relievers expected to attract attention at the deadline. Fulmer becomes an unrestricted free agent following this season. The 29-year-old Fulmer is 3-4 with a 4.20 ERA, 39 strikeouts and 20 walks this season. Phillies beat out Blue Jays in battle for Syndergaard Philadelphia Phillies receive: RHP Noah Syndergaard On a one-year, $21-million contract and with the Angels going through a disastrous season, the former first-round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays was a strong candidate to be dealt prior to trade deadline. As the clock ticked closer to the cutoff, Toronto and Philadelphia emerged as the two finalists vying for his services. It is not known what offer, if any, the Blue Jays ultimately made. After rejecting deal to Nationals, Hosmer goes to Red Sox Boston Red Sox receive: 1B Eric Hosmer, INF Max Ferguson, OF Corey Rosier, cash Hosmer was in the headlines earlier in the day when he wouldn't waive his no-trade clause to go to the Washington Nationals in the Juan Soto blockbuster. It forced the Padres to try to find another home for Hosmer -- and he ended up in Boston. Hosmer is batting .272 with eight homers and 40 RBI this year. Full details. The 18-year-old Acosta is San Diego’s No. 6-ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline. Drury already has a career-high 20 home runs this year. He has slashed .274/.335/.520 while also driving in 59 runs. Phillies land Robertson, the market's top rental reliever Philadelphia Phillies receive: RHP David Robertson With the Cubs well out of playoff contention and the 37-year-old Robertson eligible for free agency after this season, the reliever was widely expected to be dealt before Tuesday's 6 p.m. ET trade deadline. He had been linked to several teams, including the Toronto Blue Jays. Robertson returned from Tommy John surgery late last season with the Tampa Bay Rays after winning a silver medal with the United States at the Tokyo Olympics. Twins receive: RHP Tyler Mahle Mahle missed most of July with a shoulder injury, but has pitched six innings in each of his past two starts, giving up a combined five runs. Mahle doesn't throw hard, and his ERA is a little bloated (4.40), but his xERA (3.22) suggests he's been solid this season. Pop, a native of Brampton, Ont., is 2-0 with a 3.60 ERA in 18 innings this year. The 25-year-old is under team control through the 2026 season. Infielders Noelvi Marte and Edwin Arroyo and right-hander Levi Stoudt, three of the Mariners' top five prospects, along with right-hander Andrew Moore are going to Cincinnati in exchange for Castillo. In 14 starts this season, Castillo has a 4-4 record with a 2.86 ERA and 90 strikeouts through 85 innings with the Reds.
