What’s in this Guide?

Euphoria Season 2 preview

In Season 2, which Euphoria creator Sam Levinson described as “such a brutal season”, shocking events and emotional traumas continue to escalate, pushing the characters to their breaking points. In Euphoria Season 2 Episode 1, it’s clear that the arrival of the new season breaks any semblance of inhibition in order to provide viewers with utmost honesty.

While Rue and Jules reunite in the first episode of the second season, it doesn’t erase the fact that she almost put her life in danger after her relapse. Meanwhile, the love triangle between Nate, Cassie and Maddy is taking a dark turn. Backstories also serve as an insight into the mind and action of Fezco and how he got into drug trade. Cal’s past has been explored as well, explaining much of his secrecy in the first season.

As the narrative in Euphoria Season 2 expands, fans are introduced to new characters. There’s Elliot, whose time with Rue proved to be nearly fatal, which is why it seems that their relationship might not signal bright days ahead. And from the looks of it, Elliot is also already coming between Rue and Jules.

How many episodes in Euphoria Season 2?

Just like its debut season, Euphoria Season 2 consisted of eight episodes that aired between January and February 2022. During its second season finale, it became the second most watched HBO series of all time (behind Game of Thrones).

Euphoria Season 2 trailer

If you’re only planning to watch the latest season of the breakout series, here’s the official trailer of Euphoria Season 2 to give you an idea of what’s to come.

Euphoria Season 1 recap

Based on the Israeli miniseries of the same name, Euphoria is a gripping drama and was controversial when it first launched in 2019. The series follows a group of high school students attending the fictional East Highland as they navigate high school, family life, romance, friendship, sex, drugs, abuse, and social media in today’s increasingly unstable world.

Season 1 centred on Zendaya’s character, Rue Bennett. Rue is a recovering teenage drug addict who’s having a tough time finding her place and making sense of things, people, and circumstances around her. Even more difficult for her is staying clean, her struggles exacerbated by both internal and external issues that prove to be insidiously persistent.

Euphoria also follows other characters and a whole lot of other complications: Jules – a transgender girl and Rue’s love interest; Lexi – Rue’s old friend; Cassie – Lexi’s older sister; Nate – an athlete with rage issues and sexual insecurities; Maddy – Nate’s on and off girlfriend; Cal – Nate’s father; and Fezco – a local drug dealer. This is what makes Euphoria a strongly character-driven series as all the characters have their own stories to tell.

How many episodes in Euphoria Season 1?

Euphoria Season 1 had eight episodes, which aired on television between June and August 2019. Two-episode specials were then released between December 2020 and January 2021.
