Where does Call of the Night take place?

About The Book

Antisocial, dorky boy seeks fun-loving, sexy vampire for blood-sucking and transforming into her minion.

Nanakusa is a vampire. That’s okay with human Ko. He wants to be one too. But transformation doesn’t come that easily...

One sleepless night, Ko slips out to walk the streets. Life after dark is a revelation! When flirtatious Nazuna invites Ko to spend the night at her place in an abandoned building, he’s stoked! But then he awakens to kisses on his neck with a little too much bite to them... Is it just the delicious taste of his blood that makes her meet him night after night for late-night adventures, conversation and...naps? Or something else? Then, when a cute girl from Ko’s past shows up and competes for his attention, his budding relationship with the undead is put to the test!

the sweet ass cover art reeled me in forever ago, and i ended up staying for not only excellent visual design but for a lovable array of characters and a stirring, humorous, and fun story. the pre-order showed up on amazon and sent me into ecstasybiased? probably, but i cant wait to finally collect the english translation of the series and support the artist through it

I'd heard about this series, but I'm not sure I'm the best to judge. Seems like a whole lot of drama of the teenage variety. The vampire aspect was why I was interested, but that gets overwhelmed by the "My life is empty and nothing matters" vibe.

I’ve been watching anime for about 10 years and I have grown to love anime manga and cartoons. And I had a really fun time when reading this manga and I’m so excited to read more of this amazing book.

Right off the bat. I like the art in this manga. It's different from most manga out there; to me, it felt inviting and immersive. It's like I was there listening to these two kids talking and the air moving in the night and speaking about these kids( the protagonists), Kou & Nazuna. They're a couple of cute dorky kids growing up learning about love and friendship. It's nice, and I want to see more. But, I will say this. The comedy is pretty generic; some land, and others I have noticed that type of joke/scenario in other stories. You don't have to do this type of comedy; it's boring, and we have seen it done a billion times. Call of The Night is off to a beautiful start with its inviting art, dorky characters, and fun premise. If the writer keeps this up. I know this series will be loved by many. And with the anime coming out Call of the Night could only go but up.

I picked this up as I normally do with any Vampire stories with not much of an expectation since they all seem to follow the same tired tropes, but I was more than surprised and excited to read this one and keep reading the rest of the volumes. I like some of the new twists they added to the Vampire lore and to be honest, I am excited to see where they go with it! Loved it and would recommend anyone who appreciates a GOD Vampire story to pick this one up!

So there's Ko, the 14 yo wanna-be-delinquent who sneaks out of his parents house in the middle of the night to aimlessly stroll around the neighborhood. He's a loner, doesn't feel he has any friends, and decid we d suddenly to stop going to school. Eventually on his walk, Ko encounters a rather odd girl named Nazuma. She teases & toys with him, they talk, then Nazuma invites Ko to come to her place to sleep (!?!). He oddly agrees, and her place turns out to be an abandoned apartment high rise. He is suffering from insomnia, that's why Ko went with Nazuma, because she promised he would sleep well at her place. He pretends to be asleep, and so Nazuma leans over, giggles oddly, and bites his neck. Yep, time to get out the holy water & crucifixes! Except, she doesn't seem all that bad. So Ko continues to meet with her nightly. Then, early one morning, Ko runs into his childhood "friend", Akira, who is an early riser. She shows concern for Ko, which confuses him, but also seems to excite him. So then Ko starts his nights first with Nazuma, then much later with Akira. That is, until Nazuma figures out something is going on. Time for a cat fight! It seems Akira has feelings for Ko, and so does Nazuma (though she loudly denies it) and he, never really having any emotions, realizes that it excites him that Akira and possibly Nazuma like him. Now, on to the next volume!

5.0 out of 5 stars one of my favourite manga

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 19, 2021

First of all I am so glad this is getting a English physical release, as it's one of my all time favourites. I really like the cover art and the feel of the book itself.

This isn't for everyone, I think it targets a fairly niche audience, but if you are part of the audience then you will love this.

Have you ever stayed up late staring into the calmness of the night. Do you ever feel an immense wanderlust when day turns dark? If yes then this is for you.

Ever since I was a kid I've never wanted to sleep at night. I've always preferred staying up late. Night owl forever. But at some point down the line I was just absolutely immersed in the peacefulness of the night, the time when you're truly free. There's a certain type of person who wanders the night, and if that's you then welcome to this wonderful story.

At first I didn't think much of this manga, I was mainly attracted to the art style (same mangaka as dagashi kashi btw), but boy was I in for a journey. I related to this manga on a deeper level as I saw them explore the night like i've always wanted.

If you like the night then you should give this a try. It follows the cozy and feel good lighthearted story of 2 people having fun and exploring the night. It touches on themes such as loneliness and being bored with everyday life.

Last thing, I recommend you pull up some music to listen to when reading this. just some chill relaxing stuff.
