Barely a documentary about LPC

Verified purchase

I paid for a documentary about Longmont Potion Castle, not tickets to an amateur improv troupe. I don't care about the fake making of the movie, I want info about who LPC is and how he started!

There's some good info in here but they don't even meet Longmont until over halfway through, and then they just show him his own bits and drive around. Very disappointing.

Stellar fan movie

Verified purchase

Preface: There was a lot of invective in the first few reviews. The fuss about this for fans was almost completely satisfied. I had tickets for the screening some 17 months ago. I bowed out due to car trouble, and wasn't disappointed in what I missed.

Less ribald funny than amusing and exploratory. Also less mean and psychological. This will give Longmont Potion Castle's fans the long-desired hagiographic adventure they wanted. I doubt anyone else will like it. But they should check out the audio recordings first anyway so they know why we fawn and await.

Pretty cool

Thanks to this documentary, I learned of LPC for the first time. I've since binged tons of content from YouTube and just returned back to this doc to revisit the "behind the scenes" with the artist making these phone calls. Nice candid interview material with the creator and even footage of him "working" as he makes several calls.

Hilarious look at a mysterious phone agitator.

LPC is a quasi-genius phone incendiary. This doc will appeal to the fans, and may even make some new ones- lots of footage of the maestro at work, as well as examples of his work over the years- he has actually elevated the concept of "prank calling" to an art.

Long Live LPC

Verified purchase

The 5 stars belong to the 20% of this film that actually features LPC. LPC fans are sluts for anything that features him, and we want more. The interview with him towards the end, along with the tour of his equipment, were really amazing and insightful to watch.

The rest of this documentary is unimportant nonsense about how some amateur nobodies failed to produce something they promised. It serves better as evidence in court than it does as entertainment.

Hopefully one day, LPC can get the documentary he deserves.

Love LPC, but not this

Verified purchase

I've been a fan of LPC for a couple of decades now. I was pretty stoked to see the movie, but the underlying plot of the 2 guys not getting along, and the staged scenes was a bummer. There's probably only 20 minutes of LPC footage on here.

So great so so great....

Wow, peoples lives went south making this movie happen, and it's astonishing how good it actually turned out considering all the disasters that happened along the way. Thanks to LPC for coming out of the woodwork and for the backers and dedicated fans. It was great to see this!

A film that needs to be made over correctly.

Verified purchase

I loved the general idea, loved the bits that included LPC, and loved some of the interviews. But the filmmakers tried to inject a sub-plot in a biographical documentary about their personal legal troubles. It has nothing to do with it, and if it's an attempt at metahumor it falls very flat because it's not interesting. There's a small rabbit hole you could go down if you want to know more about the contentious making and crowdfunding of this film, but I'll skip that in my review, but it does shed some light on why this movie seems so barren of substance and why there was "controversy" in the first place. Tl;dr: Bad Movie, Good concept.
