To send an order as a gift:

Select Add to Cart on the product detail page.
Check the This will be a gift box.
Select .
Select a shipping address.
Select .
1. The Gift Receipt option to hide prices on the packing slip for this purchase will be automatically selected.
2. Check the box next to Gift Bag/Box - $X.XX and/or Include a free personalized gift message.
  If these options aren't available, you'll see a note that says We're sorry. This item can't be gift-wrapped or sent with a note.
Select Save Gift Options.

- You can add or change gift options after you order as long as the order isn't in the shipping process. To do so, go to and select View or edit order.

You can send items as gifts if they're Fulfilled by Amazon.com or from selected sellers.

Marking your item as a gift allows you to:

Hide prices on the packing slip.
Include the name of the gift giver and a personal message with the order.
Add gift wrap for eligible items.
Share a digital copy of your gift receipt with the recipient. This receipt also gives the recipient the choice to digitally unwrap their gift after it has been delivered.
Send the gift via email or text message without providing the delivery address of the recipient.

The name, shipping address, and any gift message that you provide appear on the packing slip. If your gift order includes items intended for different recipients, you can enter a gift message for each item. If necessary, the recipient can use the packing slip to return an item.

For gift wrapped orders, the packing slip arrives in an envelope marked "Don't spoil the surprise." If the order isn't gift wrapped, the gift message appears on the packing slip.

My son turned one earlier this month. We received a lot of presents from friends and family through Amazon. But we aren't sure where to send some of the thank you cards.

If you buy an item from Amazon and have it shipped somewhere else, it'll just arrive in a box without any sort of note for the recipient about who sent it. Amazon knows you have a record of the purchase through its website. It makes sense most of the time. But, if you're sending a gift, you need to mark it as a gift before you finish the purchase.

When you do that, Amazon will ship the item with a gift receipt and a note that shows who bought the item. And then people like me will know who to thank. (Thank you for the gifts, by the way.)

How to send items as gifts on Amazon so people know who sent it

Find an item you want to buy and add it to your Amazon cart.
On the cart subtotal screen that opens next, click the small checkbox that says "This order contains a gift."

How to send a gift from Amazon

Click proceed to checkout.
You'll see a screen that shows here option to customize a message -- it's autopopulated with "Hi, Enjoy your gift!" and a note who it's from.
Make sure the "gift receipt" box is checked if you want the recipient to have the option to return or exchange it. Prices are hidden.
You can include an optional gift bag for an added fee. In this example, my fee is about $5.
Click "Save gift options."
Select your payment method and continue checkout as normal.

That's it! Now, the recipient of your gift will know who sent it.
