What mezcal has the worm in it?Lajita Mezcal is similar to tequila but it is made from a different agave plant and contains a worm in the drink.
Can you still get tequila with a worm?Meanwhile, it's said the Normas Oficiales Mexicanas (the Mexican Standards authority) actually prohibits adding insects or larvae to tequila. So no, you'll never see a worm at the bottom of a tequila bottle.
Does the worm in Mezcal do anything?There are plenty of myths and local legends about the effects that the mezcal worm may have, but they are simply not true. If you do feel something after eating a mezcal worm it is a placebo effect. At best, you may get a little more of a buzz because the mezcal has been absorbed into the worm.
