Originally airing on October 27, 1966, ‘It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’ movie is a treasured Halloween tradition annually enjoyed across generations. This year, though, the fan-favorite special won’t be returning to cable as it did in 2021.

Apple TV+ took over the rights to the Peanuts franchise in 2018 according to Syracuse.com, and subsequently made viewing of all three Peanuts holiday special movies exclusive to their service in 2020. However, in 2021, Apple TV+ allowed PBS to air ‘It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,’ ‘A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving’ and ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ in 2021, but no such luck this season.

This season, there are no sites offering free streaming of ‘It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,’ but Apple TV+ is offering a short window of Oct. 28-31 where the special will be available to stream for free, even for those not registered with an account.

Apple TV+ does also offer a seven-day free trial when a new user signs up, so if those dates don’t work, an individual can download the Apple TV+ app and sign up for the plan to watch the Halloween special for free — they just have to be sure to cancel the trial before the seven days are up or pay $6.99 a month for a subscription.

‘A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving’ and ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ will be available to stream for free Nov. 23-27 and Dec. 23-25, respectively, according to Syracuse.com.

As for the rest of Halloween’s traditional TV shows, FreeForm’s 31 Nights of Halloween is still in full swing, featuring family favorites leading up to the 31st like Hocus Pocus, Ghostbusters, and the Nightmare Before Christmas. Disney Channel’s Monstober will also be featuring kid-friendly Halloween films until Oct. 30.

AMC’s FearFest will be continuing through til Nov. 1, with much scarier horror movies such as The Conjuring, Final Destination and Gremlins, and SyFy’s 31 Days of Halloween is featuring a combination of family-friendly films and true horror movies up until Oct. 28.
