Similar CPU Comparisons
Select from the most popular similar processor comparisons. Most compared processor combinations, including the currently selected ones, are at the top.
Processor is the main part of a computer as it runs the whole computer and if you’re looking for a powerful processor then you should have a look at the Ryzen 7 5800x and Ryzen 9 5900x. Both are extremely good choices if you are building a high-end desktop PC. However, there are still some differences between them and to see which one is better among them I have compared 5800x with 5900x in detail. Before jumping directly to the comparison first let’s see the specification of Ryzen 7 5800x:

Ryzen 7 5800x processor vs Ryzen 9 5900x processor
From the specifications of both the processors given above one can clearly see that there is a difference of cores, threads, and cache sizes only. So, to have some clear picture of which is one is better let’s talk about some of the following performance of both processors on the following categories:
- Rendering performance of Ryzen 7 5800 and Ryzen 9 5900x
- Gaming performance of Ryzen 7 5800 and Ryzen 9 5900x
- Cooling performance of Ryzen 7 5800 and Ryzen 9 5900x
Rendering performance
If you are looking to use some high-end applications for video editing or making 3D models then the Ryzen 9 5900x can be the best for you as it has four more cores as compared to the Ryzen 7 5800x. Moreover, the increased cache size and the clock speed can also be a plus for you while using such high-end applications.
Whereas the Ryzen 7 5800x might not fulfill your need due to a smaller number of cores, cache size and clock speed.
Gaming performance
From the gaming perspective both the processor will perform equally as most of the games use maximum 4 cores of the processor, and both the processors can easily satisfy the criteria.
Cooling performance
Since the Ryzen 9 5900x has more cores and higher clock speed it will produce more heat and it has more fans or you can use the water-cooling system to keep its temperature normal. On the other hand, the Ryzen 7 5800x will produce less heat as it has less number or cores and slightly lower clock speed. In short an efficient cooling system will be required in the case of Ryzen 94 5900x.
Conclusion
From the gaming perspective the Ryzen 7 5800x will be the best choice as the games do not require a large number of cores. Moreover, the Ryzen 7 5800x produces less heat and consumes less power whereas if you are looking for a processor that can handle video editing applications then Ryzen 9 5900x will be the one for you.
