Alcohol.Think Again is coordinated by the Drug, Alcohol and Prevention Services Directorate, Mental Health Commission.

The Alcohol.Think Again message is about raising awareness and providing education about responsible service and safe consumption of alcohol in the WA community.

The Parents, Young People and Alcohol campaign provides education and support for young people under 18-years-of-age, ‘not drinking alcohol is the safest option’ and sees an emphasis placed on supply control.

The Alcohol.Think Again campaign supports our work to

  • Improve access to alcohol-free environments
  • Promote awareness of healthy drinking habits in the community.

Alcohol.Think Again

The Alcohol.Think Again education campaign is part of a comprehensive approach that aims to reduce the level of alcohol-related harm and ill-health in Western Australia.  Alcohol.Think Again aims to reduce the impact that alcohol use has on our community by changing the drinking culture in Western Australia to support safer drinking environments and practices, and features campaigns with messaging consistent with the National Health and Medical Research Council Australian Guidelines to Reduce Health Risks from Drinking Alcohol.

Drug Aware

Drug Aware was established in 1996 and is the only comprehensive, on-going government program on illicit drug education (outside of schools) undertaken in Australia.

Drug Aware is one of the key initiatives in the state framework of educational strategies forming part of a comprehensive approach to address illicit drug use in Western Australia. The program aims to prevent, delay and reduce drug use and related harm, by providing credible and evidence-based information to Western Australians, to help them make informed decisions about their drug use and related behaviour.

Drug Aware program contributes to behaviour change by implementing campaigns using targeted, mass reach education strategies and supports and develops strategies to create safer environments to reduce the incidence and risk of harm from illicit drug use.

The program is managed by the Prevention Services Division of the Mental Health Commission in collaboration with Cancer Council WA.

Strong Spirit Strong Future

Strong Spirit Strong Future campaign is a culturally secure campaign that aims to improve awareness among Aboriginal people, families and communities in metropolitan, regional and remote Western Australia of the harms associated with alcohol use in pregnancy to prevent the occurrence of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). The campaign has a particular focus on women of childbearing age and educates them on the reasons why no alcohol is the safest choice when pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy.

Think Mental Health

Think Mental Health Campaign is a key initiative of the State-wide suicide prevention strategy, Suicide Prevention 2020: Together we can save lives, under Action Area One - Greater public awareness and united action across the community.  The Think Mental Health education campaign is part of a comprehensive approach in Western Australia that aims to build mental health and wellbeing and reduce mental health issues with view to reducing Western Australia’s suicide rate. It supports other initiatives to prevent and reduce suicide in Western Australia. The Think Mental Health education campaign’s focus is on assisting the Western Australian community to connect with the best information, support and services for their particular situation, without duplicating the good work already being done.
