Show In which state of matter, the process of diffusion is fastest:(A) Liquids(B) Gases(C) Solids(D) Semi solidsAnswer Verified Hint:Matter is something which has some mass and occupies some space. It is made up of tiny particles which have some space between them and these particles are invisible to naked eyes. The particles tend to attract each other. The solid state particles have a high force of attraction between the particles and the least force of attraction between the particles is in gases. Complete answer:The process of diffusion is defined as the migration of some particles or anything from a high concentration area to a low concentration area. The gradient difference in the concentration contributes to diffusion. A gradient is defined as the variation present in the magnitude of a variable. A shift in distance is known as gradient energy and the increase in distance of pressure is known as pressure gradient. The molecules of gases are smaller and have high kinetic energy than solid and liquid and semi solids. The diffusion of the fluid is slow because the particles tend to move slowly in the fluid. But with the change in temperature it occurs quickly. As the liquid provides small room so the movement of collisions between the molecules are frequent and diffusion is slower. But in gases they have more space due to which the less collision provides more diffusion. The distance between the particles is more in gases than liquids which results in fast diffusion in gases than liquids. So the kinetic energy is more in gases particles so the diffusion in gases is more quicker than in liquid. So, the correct answer is option (B). Note: Diffusion is of two types. The simple diffusion in which the substance moves through the semipermeable membrane or without the help from transport protein. The other is facilitated diffusion which is a passive diffusion in which the molecules move from the high concentration to low concentration through the cell membrane. The factors affecting diffusion are temperature, particle size and area of interaction.

The greater the attraction between the molecules, the smaller the expansion will be. Because intermolecular forces of attraction are less in gases, more in liquid and much more in solid.
Why do gases show high Diffusibility? The high diffusibility of gases is due to high kinetic energy of gaseous molecules.
Does Solid have Diffusibility?Diffusion can happen in solids as well. Solid-state diffusion is an extremely slow process. Solid particles have the lowest kinetic energy and so do not move.
Which state of matter has the highest density?Hence, SOLIDS is the state of matter that has maximum density.
