How To Pay For Your Fare

PRONTO is the easy way to pay for your transit fare! Download the PRONTO App to your phone, then load money onto your app ahead of the concert. You can also pick-up and add money to a PRONTO card (one-time $2 fee) at any Trolley ticket machine or any participating retail network location. Plan ahead to avoid the crowded lines!

Tap or scan your PRONTO card/app at a station validator every time you ride! A one-way fare will be deducted (valid for free transfers for two hours), up to the value of a Day Pass. Every passenger must have their own PRONTO app or PRONTO card.

We recommend loading at least enough money for a round-trip to save time after the end of the concert. You can also add more money to your account for future use (money added to PRONTO never expires). Click here to learn more about PRONTO or view our Full Fare Chart.

See you there, San Diego!

Red Hot Chili Peppers will hit the road in a big way in 2022 for a North American summer stadium tour. The coast-to-coast trek will celebrate — a year late, because of the coronavirus pandemic — the 30th anniversary of the Los Angeles band’s 1991 album, “Blood Sugar Sex Magik.

The 19-city tour opens with a July 23 date at Denver’s Empower Field at Mile High, followed by a July 27 show at San Diego’s Petco Park with Haim and Thundercat as the opening acts. The four-man band will perform two other California concerts: July 29 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara and July 31 at So-Fi Stadium in Los Angeles.

Ticket information and a list of all the concert dates and cities appears at the conclusion of this article. The North American-leg will be preceded by a European stadium tour that opens June 4 in Seville, Spain and concludes July 12 in Hamburg, Germany,

The tour, produced by Live Nation, was originally scheduled for 2020. Former Peppers guitarist John Frusciante is back on board as the replacement for Josh Klinghoffer. Frusciante joined the group in 1988 and left in 1991. He rejoined in 1998 for a second stint that lasted until 2009, then rejoined again in early 2020.

Frusciante is one of seven guitarists who have played in the now-38-year-old band, which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.

The rest of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ lineup has remained unchanged — lead vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea and drummer Chad Smith.

Tickets for the San Diego concert and all other dates on the tour go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Oct. 15. Ticket prices for the Petco Park concert range from $49.50 to $199.50, plus service charges.

There will be multiple pre-sales for the Petco Park show and all the other dates on the tour. A pre-sale for American Express card members will be held from 10 a.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Oct. 14, while a Live Nation, Ticketmaster, concert venue and local radio station pre-sale will be held runs Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The eight San Diego radio stations Live Nation expects to participate in the pre-sale are 91X-FM, KXSN-FM, KIOZ-FM, KGB-FM, KFBG-FM, XMOR-FM, XGLX-FM and KLQV-FM.

Fans who sign up for the Red Hot Chili Peppers mailing list on the band’s website will qualify for a pre-sale that runs from 10 a.m Saturday to 10 p.m. Oct. 14. Those who sign up will be sent an email with a pre-sale code.

There will also be a pre-sale for San Diego Padres season pass-holders and Friar’s Club members, starting on Oct. 14. Codes for that pre-sale will be sent out via email that morning.

The concert is one of two confirmed for Petco Park next year. The other is an Aug. 28, 2022 show by Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, and Poison. It was originally scheduled for 2020, then postponed until this summer, and then postponed again until next year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
