Franklin County has 46 positions up for grabs in its May 3 primary election, and the Feb. 17 noon qualifying deadline is fast approaching.

The list has been developing since candidates were allowed to begin picking up petitions on Dec. 20, 2021, giving them nine weeks to complete the necessary paperwork to be on the May 3 ballot which paves the way for the Aug. 4 county general election.

After the Feb. 17 qualifying deadline has passed, any candidates who have regretted their decision to be on the ballot have until noon on Feb. 24 to withdraw from their respective races.

The voter-registration deadline is on April 4, and the early voting period extends from April 13 through April 28. The absentee-ballot-request deadline is April 26.
