Show We are building a house and just got our windows installed. We didn't pick them, our builder just said they'd be low e windows. They are decidedly blue tinted. I had no idea this could even happen. Should I ask my builder to replace them? They are ClimaGuard 55/27. It says they're energy star rated for Florida. We live in NC. Alison Don’t want to ask what may be a stupid question but is the plastic wrapper off them? I’m shocked that if this is a custom home you weren’t more involved in the decision of what the windows would look like. We are being asked to sign of on every detail. Comments (37)

Why do new Windows look green?“The simple answer is that the low-e material itself is green in its natural state,” says Peter Cathey, an independent manufacturer's representative for Anlin Windows & Doors. It's very specific to low-e (low emission) glass, an energy efficient upgrade that blocks summer heat from entering the home through the glass.
