There won’t be a fourth season of Single Ladies on VH1. The cable channel has cancelled their original series after three seasons on the air.

In a statement, VH1 said, “We’ve been proud to deliver three seasons of the drama, romance and style that engaged viewers in each episode of Single Ladies. Although we’ve decided not to move forward with another season, we hope to work again with the talented cast, creatives and producers as well as our partners at Flavor Unit Entertainment in the near future. We also thank the show’s fans for their support since the premiere in 2011.”

Single Ladies revolves around the lives of three close female friends who have different views on love, sex, and relationships. The cast includes Denise Vasi, LisaRaye McCoy-Misick, Charity Shea, Kassandra Clementi, Travis Winfrey, Harold House Moore, Terrell Tilford, LeToya Luckett, and D. B. Woodside.

Season three is currently airing and will wrap on March 24th. This season has averaged 2.17 million viewers, a slight decline from season two’s audience of 2.27 million.

The cancellation comes a couple days after VH1 picked up a new drama called Hindsight. The cable channel’s other original scripted series — Hit the Floor — was renewed for a second season last year.

What do you think? Did you like the Single Ladies TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for another year?

Earlier this year, VH1 cancelled original drama Single Ladies after three seasons. Now, Centric (BET’s sister cable channel) has picked up the TV series for a fourth season.

The scripted show is produced by Queen Latifah and the pickup comes as as part of a larger content development agreement with Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment. Centric will also carry reruns of Latifah’s daytime syndicated talk show.

BET Networks chairman-CEO Debra Lee said, “We are thrilled to be working once again with Flavor Unit Entertainment and Queen Latifah. She does it all and we are happy to have her join us as a creative force as we continue to grow Centric into a premiere destination for African American women.”

What do you think? Are you glad to hear that Single Ladies has been picked up for a fourth season? Will you watch it on Centric?

About the show

Single Ladies is a comedic drama series that chronicles the lives of three friends and their attempts to find a relationship. Created by Stacy Littlejohn, the series initially debuted as a two-hour TV film on VH1 on May 30, 2011. After three seasons the network pulled the plug on the series, but BET Network pick up the show for a fourth season that aired on Centric on March 18, 2015.

Inspired in part by real life and partly by super popular Sex and the City, Single Ladies pivots on four central characters — Raquel, Keisha, April and Melissa — as they pursue their careers and complicated relationships with men. Strong and virile, the women beautifully express the emotions, passions and desires of the everyday woman, making each character relatable in one way or another. Since its premiere, the show has seen several changes, including a new network and several new stars.

We told you this past weekend about the surprising news that the hit VH1 show, Single Ladies, would not be returning for a fourth season. The show just had its premiere in January for the third season after being on break for more than a year after the second season ended. And despite its popularity, the third season will have a short run, ending the series as a whole on March 24. VH1 has already spoken out in a statement about the decision not to move forward with Single Ladies:

“We’ve been proud to deliver three seasons of the drama, romance and style that engaged viewers in each episode of Single Ladies. Although we’ve decided not to move forward with another season, we hope to work again with the talented cast, creatives and producers as well as our partners at Flavor Unit Entertainment in the near future. We also thank the show’s fans for their support since the premiere in 2011.”

One of the lead actresses of the show, Lisa Raye, has decided to speak out too, doing so on Tuesday on her Facebook page. This is what she had to say:

All things come to an end.

It has truly been a intersting journey for me. Unfortunately that journey has come to an end. Over the past 3 years being apart of a show that showcased the beauty of friendships, the power of loyalty, some amazing trendsetting fashions and steamy romance. It Was really great to give voice and life to every day situations that we as women face doing so in such a positive relatable Manor is what made single ladies so great. To all of my fans I want to thank you for your continued support we wouldn’t have made it this far without all of you. Of course this will not be the end of Lisa Raye please stay tuned for upcoming projects I send peace and blessings to my cast mates for their upcoming endeavors as well.

On a side note, a petition has actually been made on Petition Buzz (yes there are quite a few petition websites these days) to keep the show going, and while you might think it has no chance, petitions and support are the reason The Game ended up returning to television…so who knows?

What do you think about what Lisa Raye had to say, and the abrupt ending to the popular show?
