Or a light ray incident on a rectangular glass block at an angle greater than 0 (to the normal) The refracted angle is found by drawing the emergent ray then removing the glass block and joining the incident ray and the emergent ray together. The angle of refraction is the angle on the glassblock side of the incident ray between the normal and the ray.
