Given:
Each side of the Rectangle increases by 20 %
Concept Used:
Concept of percentage. It is calculated on the basis of 100.
For example, x% means x out of 100.
Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth
Calculation:
Let, the length of the rectangle be l and the breadth be b
According to the Question,
Each side increases by 20%
⇒ New length = (120/100) × l = (1.2 × l) and new breadth = (120/100)b = 1.2b
Initial area = l × b
new area with new side = (1.2 × l) × (1.2b) = 1.44 × lb
\(Net\;change = \frac{({1.44 - 1}) \times lb}{{lb}} × 100 = 44\;\% \;\;\)
∴ The percentage in area is 44%.
