Hailey Baldwin has opened up about the challenges of her first year being married to Justin Bieber.

The couple married in September 2018, with Baldwin revealing the first year of their marriage was “very difficult” during an interview in March 2021.

Bieber, 27, has been vocal about his experience of depression, which he struggled with after marrying Baldwin, 24.

The couple discussed the early stages of their respective struggles on the podcast In Good Faith with Chelsea & Judah Smith, with Baldwin revealing her mother, Kennya Baldwin, talked her into staying with the singer at one particularly tough stage.

“I remember I called [her] a few different times, one particular time [when] we were in Brooklyn and I was calling her, I was crying, and I was like, ‘I just can’t do it. There’s no way that I’m going to be able to do this if it’s going to be like this forever,’” she said.

“And I just remember she was so calm on the phone and she was like, ‘It’s going to pass, and you’re going to be fine and he’s going to be healthy and we’re here for you.’ And I do feel like we had a lot of support.

Reflecting on the importance of the moment, Baldwin continued: “I feel like if I didn’t have support, it would’ve been 10 times harder, and it was already the hardest thing in my life at the time so I also just think I was in it.

“I made a decision. I know for a fact that I’ve loved this person for a very long time and now would not be the time to give up on him. I just wouldn’t do that to him.”

She added: “Imagine abandoning somebody in the middle of the worst time of their life, potentially. I’m not that type of a person, So I was going to stick it out no matter what the outcome was going to be. It was really hard.”

Bieber opened up about his experience of depression, having previously asked his fans to “pray” him.

In September 2021, Baldwin shut down claims that her Bieber “mistreats” her.

The model called the rumours a “big fat narrative” during an appearance on Demi Lovato‘s podcast, titled 4D With Demi Lovato.

“There are so many narratives that float around about me, about him, about us together,” she said. “Like, ‘Justin is not nice to her and mistreats her’, and I’m just like, it’s so far from the truth and it’s the complete and utter opposite.”

Baldwin’s comments came after she was subjected to chants of “Selena” at the 2021 Met Gala.

Footage shared on TikTok appeared to show members of the audience shouting the name of Bieber’s ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez, as the pair posed on the red carpet in New York.

At the end of the video, Baldwin, who was close to tears, put on a pair of sunglasses to ensure her eyes are not on show in any further photographs.

(CNN)Justin Bieber used some technical difficulties to talk about his wife Hailey Bieber's recent health scare.

In a video shared on social media from his recent concert in Denver, the singer is seen on stage after the lights went out at the show.

He talked to the audience about how "life randomly throws you curve balls," adding "we can't really control much."

Bieber then mentioned that many may have heard about his wife suffering a small blood clot last weekend.

"But she's OK, she's good, she's strong. But it's been scary, you know?," he said. "Like, it's been really scary. But I know for a fact that God has her in the palm of his hands and that's a good thing."

Hailey Bieber had posted on social media about the incident.

"On Thursday morning, I was sitting at breakfast with my husband when I started having stroke like symptoms and was taken to the hospital," she wrote. "They found I had suffered a very small blood clot to my brain, which caused a small lack of oxygen, but my body had passed it on its own and I recovered completely within a few hours."

The couple got engaged in summer 2018 and privately married at a New York City courthouse months later.

In September 2019, they married in a ceremony attended by friends and family at luxury resort Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, South Carolina.

Bieber elaborated that he has always emphasized that love was the foundation of life as well as the foundation for his music. He added, "So it’s important to me I’m singing about kind of what I’m living first." Bieber brought up a conversation he was having with Hailey that morning and disclosed, " It’s like, she’s my priority before anything else. So just being on the same page with her is kind of like the main thing."

Meanwhile, Bieber also teased his upcoming next album as he revealed that he was almost finished with the production and will be deciding on a release date soon while he recounted the importance of music in his life, "It’s something I can’t not do. It’s like a part of me. I’m gonna keep making music as long as I humanly can."

The Biebers have been married since September 2018, when they tied the knot in a quiet courthouse ceremony. In the four years since, the two have definitely discovered the meaning behind “in sickness and in health,” with both encountering serious individual health scares in recent months.

Just a couple days before posting the new photo, the pop star was at Italy’s Lucca Festival performing live for the first time since being forced to postpone the summer chunk of his Justice tour due to facial paralysis caused by Ramsay Hunt syndrome. The “Love Yourself” musician first revealed his illness in June, when he posted a video to Instagram showing how half of his face couldn’t blink, stretch or smile even as the other half continued doing so.

When he made his return to the stage at Lucca, Hailey was there to cheer him on — as captured in photos and a video posted by Justin after the performance. Similarly, the 25-year-old model says her husband was there for her in March as she dealt with the aftermath of a “mini stroke,” which resulted in a small blood clot in her brain.
