Why does My 3D Bitmoji look weird

Your digital avatar is getting a 3D revamp, thanks to a new update on Snapchat. While Snapchat users are no strangers to styling their Bitmojis after themselves with countless appearance and style-based options to choose from, you can now give your cartoon doppelgänger some of your personality as well. Here’s how to make your 3D Bitmoji on Snapchat so your digital self can pose and gesture away.

Snapchat began rolling out an update to Snapchat users worldwide on Monday, July 19 that will make your Bitmoji will look very different on both your Snapchat Profile and Friendship Profile. In addition to a sporting a new three-dimensional appearance, your digital avatar will do a better job of expressing your personality, quirks, and body language with over 1,200 new facial expressions, poses, gestures, and fun digital backgrounds ranging from patterns to scenic backdrops. You can also expect existing Bitmoji Snapchat features to look a little different, making your Bitmoji much more life-like. For example, clothing pieces will now have more textures and details and jewelry will come with sparkle and shine.

The update will be rolling out to all Snapchat users over the next few weeks, so make sure you have the most up-to-date version of the app. To check out your 3D emoji and add some new features, you’ll want to go to the Bitmoji avatar builder in Snapchat by tapping the Bitmoji icon in the top left corner of your Snap camera. If your profile has been updated, you should see your Bitmoji looking a little bit more 3D than before. In Profile, tap the new photo icon at the bottom right corner of your 3D Bitmoji, and a new menu with a “poses and backgrounds” option will pop up. Tap on that, then switch between the two tabs to edit your backdrops and body language. Hit “save” once you’re happy with your results.

In addition to the ability to change your outfits and edit your new 3D Bitmoji, you can also share your 3D Bitmoji both on and off Snapchat by tapping the arrow icon located in the top right next to your digital avatar. You can also easily edit your Bitmoji’s appearance or change its outfit by tapping the clothes hanger or picture icons located to the left and right of your Bitmoji.

If you don’t see it right away, make sure you have the latest version of Snapchat and keep checking back over the next few weeks as it rolls out to users worldwide.

So i opened up snapchat to find that my selfie was now 3d and so was all my friends, it looks normal on the list but when i click on their profile it shows up as a 3d version in their selfie. How do i change it, it looks so awful

Thankfully, the steps for putting a 3D Bitmoji on your Snapchat profile are relatively simple. TechRadar notes that the 3D Bitmoji gives users "1,200 combinations of body poses, facial expressions, gestures, and backgrounds." The 3D Bitmoji was introduced in 2017, just a year after the regular Bitmoji was created. Now, it looks like that technology has been extended to profile avatars.

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on July 29, 2021) follows:

Snapchat is evolving how users can view Bitmojis on the app, allowing all to view 3D versions of their creations on the friendship profile.

These new Bitmojis can be customized extensively with over 1,200 new body poses, facial expressions, gestures, and backgrounds so you can get a perfect doppelganger that peeps will be able to recognize even from miles away.

Users will also see enhanced details on their Bitmoji avatars, such as “clothing textures and unique embellishments from their favorite fashion labels”. For instance, Snapchat users will be able to see how their earrings shine.

Along with this, another cool new feature was released called My Places. It essentially lets Snapchatters discover more than 30 million businesses, log their favorite local spots, and even find personalized recommendations. But we won’t be talking about that here.

Anyway, the new 3D Bitmoji, as with every major change, has provoked mixed reactions from those who have received the update till now.

There’s a set of peeps that are totally digging the new look, calling the 3D visuals an eye-candy and something that make their Bitmojis appear more realistic and appealing.

However, such people are overshadowed by those that abhor the feature. One look at Twitter reveals that the haters of the new 3D Bitmoji on Snapchat are far greater in number than those that actually like the feature.

Those who dislike it have argued that their new Bitmoji looks creepy and ugly, with many even accusing Snapchat of drawing cues from The Sims game or the Xbox avatars.

Some have also stated that they’re now having trouble recognizing other’s Bitmojis, resulting in them sending the wrong snaps to the wrong people, although that should only be a temporary problem.

Many also took the update as a point of criticism against Snapchat for still not adding stuff that users really want such as the ability to change usernames and the bygone Best Friends feature.

It’s pretty obvious though that it will take a cold day in hell for Snapchat to roll back the 3D Bitmoji, so there’s nothing that can be done apart from simply getting used to it.

One can always customize it a little though so that it looks a bit more tolerable with the added third dimension.

Anyway, we would love to know about YOUR take on all of this. Are you digging the new Snapchat 3D Bitmoji update? Or would you rather go back to the classic 2D look? Or are you a nihilist who’s completely indifferent to it all?

Just vote on the poll above or drop a comment in the section below to share your opinion. As always, the poll results will be out next week.
