07 February 2020 If you are thinking of improving your food retail business, you may want to consider selling fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables will surely guarantee a reasonable income if you have managed your business well. To make selling fruits and vegetables more ideal, you have to buy these products in wholesale so that you can get the best value out of your business. What makes wholesale purchases good for your business is the amount of savings that you can get. Buying your fruits and vegetables from a grocery store can cost you a lot. With wholesale purchases, you can buy the same number of fruits and vegetables at around 25% lower than your overall cost in grocery stores. Buying wholesale fruits and vegetables is certainly good for your business. However, you must assess the following factors first so that you can get the best value out of purchasing wholesale food products. Products Offered One major factor that you must consider first is the products a wholesale store offers. Some stores offer fruits and vegetables that are fresh, canned, or dried. Other stores, however, only offer a specific type of fruits and vegetables. As a business owner, it would be a wise decision to buy from a store that offers a huge variety of products than those who just offer a limited supply of fruits and vegetables. Source of Products Even if a wholesale store has a lot of products, you must all ask about their source. Where do they get their fruits and vegetables? Where and how do they process some of them? Since the demand for fruits and vegetables is always high, some farms have opted to use artificial growing methods to make the most out of a single crop. If you purchase food products out of this method, expect less nutritious fruits and vegetables. So, see to it that the fruits and vegetables of a wholesale store grow naturally. Selling these products would be easier since they will be healthier and more natural-looking than the artificial ones. If you want to know more about the quality of a store’s products, you can ask anyone around the neighbourhood who buys from them and ask for their recommendations. Delivery Method Some wholesale stores offer the convenience of online orders and that you can expect delivery of your purchases after a few days. On the other hand, other wholesale stores have physical stores so that you can see the quality of the products. If you think that you can wait patiently for the delivery of your products to come, then you can go for that option. This option, however, will assess how the store manages to deliver all the products in good shape. So, if you feel that you can manage to pick up and transport your products safely, then go for that option. Either way, most wholesale stores now offer both options for your convenience. Of course, one common factor that every business owner must know is the comparison of prices among wholesale stores. The same thing applies to the store that you will choose in the end. I have found myself really increasing my fruit intake with trying to go raw and also trying to be more active. I would imagine a lot of people on here eat a lot of fruit especially if on the 80-10-10. Do you any of you buy fruit in bulk from some place locally? There is not much fruit to be had around here in Indianapolis, Indiana except apples, pears, plums, melons, concord grapes and berries. I have bought apples, pears and plums direct from an orchard in the area. There are peaches that come in from South Carolina sold at the farmer's markets and berries are sold there too but they can get quite expensive. Has anyone here bought in bulk fruit or set up a deal with someone at a farmers market to put the cost down? I think I remember peaches being around $2(?) a pound what would be a fair barter if I planned on buying like 15 or 20 pounds? Watermelons and Cantaloupe were around $3-5 each what would be a fair barter if I planned on buying 5-10 melons? I think blueberries were around $4 for a quart (I think thats the measurement) what if I bought 5 of those? Any experience/advice in this is appreciated! |
