1 way vs 2 way remote start

1 way vs 2 way remote start

Here at Extreme Audio we are known as the remote car starter experts in Midlothian and Mechanicsville.  We sell lots of remote car starters. While we have many repeat clients, there are still many people who are buying their first system. A common question we get is “What is the difference between a one-way and a two-way remote car starter?” Let’s explore the differences between and the advantages of both technologies.

1 way vs 2 way remote start
One-way remote car starters work just like your factory-installed keyless entry system. They employ one-way communication between the remote control and the vehicle. You push a button on your remote control and, as long as you are within operating range, the vehicle receives the command and performs the desired request. The advantage of a one-way system is going to be the price. It is going to cost less than a comparable two-way system.

2-Way Remote Starter Systems

1 way vs 2 way remote start
The primary advantage of two-way systems is knowing for sure that your vehicle has performed the desired request. It is called a two-way system because the remote control communicates with the vehicle and the vehicle communicates back to the remote control.

Now, you may be asking yourself, “Why do I care?” If you have never owned a remote starter, you probably think that you will use it in the morning when it is cold outside, and you would be correct. Once you go out to that warm vehicle one time, you will be hooked. You won’t want to go out to a cold vehicle again. You will never want to scrape your windows again. Think about everywhere the vehicle sits over the course of an average week for any length of time – when you are at work, out to eat, the grocery store, the mall, church; you name it. At all those times, you will not be in sight of your vehicle. And you want to know that it started, right?

That is the beauty of a two-way system. You press the start button on your remote, and you will get an instant response back, letting you know it received the command. Once it starts, about 5 to 10 seconds later, you get a confirmation that it is running, warming up your vehicle and de-icing your windows. While Midlothian does not have winters like those in places like Michigan, it does get cold here, and we have owned and used this technology in our own vehicles for over a decade.

LCD Display For Visual Confirmation

To make things even better, if you buy a system with an LCD display, your vehicle can even tell you the temperature inside your vehicle. Now you will know how long your vehicle needs to run to warm up.

What is the difference between a 1 way and a 2

When you press a button the remote starter will execute the command and the vehicle will respond with parking light flashes. A 2-way system does the same but it also sends a signal back to the remote to notify you that the command has been executed.

What is a 1 way remote starter?

1-Way Remote Starter Systems They employ one-way communication between the remote control and the vehicle. You push a button on your remote control and, as long as you are within operating range, the vehicle receives the command and performs the desired request.

What is 2

What is a 2-Way LED System? 2-way LED systems, like the Compustar PRIME G9 or SLICE Jr., feature remotes that look like any normal remote key fob. However, when locking your doors or remote starting your engine, 2-way remotes will provide visual and audible confirmation when a command is successfully sent to a vehicle.

What is a 2

A 2-way remote starter system communicates back to you and tells you what's actually going on with your vehicle. It lets you know that the engine is now running, or the alarm is set.
