All the Best Pet Care dental cleaning

  1. Current Employee, less than 1 year

    Pros

Upper Management is supportive and always open to input. Nutritional training is superb. Flexible with scheduling. You feel valued, cared about, and are embraced no matter your background.

    Cons

The hours are constantly changing which makes for a difficult work life balance.

  2. Current Employee, more than 5 years

    Pros

Opportunity to learn about dogs and cats, they always prefer to promote from within the company, reliable and (mostly) happy co-workers, they trust their employees more than most companies, they prefer to hire full time, employees tend to stay longer than usual for retail

    Cons

Like all retail, the pay isn't wonderful; sometimes it takes too long to fire someone who isn't working out (putting more stress on the rest of the team)

    Pros

The day to day work at the store level can be fun and rewarding. The company provides a ton of training and nutritional education, and it's a really good feeling to be able to give that back to the community. Everyone loves their pets, but a lot of people don't know that most of the pet food out there is NOT good. So everyone once in a while you get a really good interacting with a customer and you leave work feeling like you made an actual difference. Also, the discounted dog food and the amount of free products you'll get through promotions and such is really nice.

    Cons

Many members of the upper management are catty, unprofessional people who act like high-schoolers. They don't value good employees, they value people who will follow blindly. They will raise you up to some store management position (because the turnover rate is so high and no one stays there much longer than 3 years) and then with one even slightly wrong move, you're on their list. My advice to those just starting out at ATB is to keep your head down and don't climb the ladder, and you'll probably enjoy your job.

  9. Former Employee, less than 1 year

    Pros

I had wonderful, intelligent coworkers who were fantastic to be around and really, really care about animals; most of the customers are similar.

    Cons

You'll be told that it's better and more satisfying than normal "retail," but that's a lie. When I was there, upper management made it a huge priority to "up-sell" which completely contradicts their "mission statement." One must become comfortable with hypocrisy as well as unprofessional, enigmatic, aloof, and oftentimes rude upper management to last long; Expect to walk on eggshells. Much of the pet nutrition "science" we were taught boiled down to baseless homeopathy and pseudoscience, which falls in line with the "up-sell" mentality being pushed. Employees are terribly underpaid with respect to the expectations put upon them, and one must satisfy the cult that is upper management to expect any opportunities for advancement. Don't be fooled: this company, as they act, cares neither for their employees or for pets, only their bottom line.

  10. Former Employee, more than 3 years

    Pros

Great training and learning opportunities about cat and dog nutrition, workshops which tend to be like a course at school. Helping people understand pet nutrition and bettering the lives of animals through diet. Some employees are fantastic people to work with. Surely you will find some good friends working there. If you are not in a management position you tend to be safe from the disrespect and game playing by the CEO and Senior Management.

    Cons

Senior management and CEO are very unpleasant people, unprofessional and downright disrespectful. No values aside from pet nutrition. They promote people who should never be in a position of power, allow favoritism and prefer people who play games and brown-nose over people with good work ethic.

    Not Worth It

    Business Outlook

    Pros

You learn a lot about pet care nutrition, and a lot of like minded people who care about animals. The wages are also pretty good, with quarterly raises just being implemented.

    Cons

It's very stressful. Upper management is scatter brained or they just don't care about actually telling us anything even when it's related to how the store functions. They push you to sell products and then tell you how it's not like upselling at any other retail store. They let good people go for arbitrary reasons but keep horrible employees on either because they keep in line or because letting them go would be more trouble than its worth. The worst though is that they try so hard to culitvate an atmosphere of the unique pet boutique when they're currently in the process of making everything uniform and corporate, and they keep or bring in poor products simply because they sell, betraying the initial mission of improving pet nutrition. It's not too bad though if you only plan on working there for a short amount of time. Don't talk to anyone in any level of management though because they'll probably stab you in the back.

How can I remove tartar and plaque from my dog's teeth?

The best way to remove plaque is to simply brush your dog's teeth daily with a dog toothbrush and dog-safe toothpaste. Brushing your pooch's teeth every now and then won't get rid of a buildup of plaque, but regular brushing will help keep their teeth and mouths healthy.

Can I scrape the tartar off my dog teeth?

We do not recommend scraping the plaque or tartar off your pet's teeth on your own, as it could damage the teeth's enamel, and it can also lead to other complications such as gum bleeding. We recommend a reputable and qualified provider to perform a dental cleaning procedure.
