Do I need a rack for roof top tent?Yes, a roof rack is required to affix your roof top tent to your vehicle. This can be as simple as aftermarket cross bars mounted on factory roof rails, or as involved as a heavy duty, permanently mounted custom rack.
Are roof top tents too heavy?Weight. Weight is an issue you want to consider for your rooftop tent. A lot of them weigh more or less 50 kilos. Heavier tents can cause pressure in your vehicle resulting in a decrease in fuel efficiency, car system pressure, and hard driving on the road.
Does the ladder support the roof top tent?Soft shell roof top tents: Soft shell tents are the most common type. One half is mounted to the roof rack of your car, and the other is supported a ladder. To open it you simply pull down the ladder and the tent folds open.
