I remember before the online got big your stats weren’t capped by stupid builds. I get they do this to make the online fair but I never play online matches and just wish I could have a player that actually hold up to real nba players attributes/ratings and actually have a well rounded game like most superstars.

Edit: changed “stats” to “attributes/ratings” bc that seemed to be causing confusion

As the month of September fast approaches, it's hard to believe that another season of NBA basketball is right around the corner. But sure enough, teams will be in training camps by the 28th with the opening slate of games only a few weeks later in October.

Of course, ringing in the hoops fest is the official release of NBA 2K22 and the excitement is beginning to build. While NBA 2K21 may not have lived up to the high expectations many gamers had set, the 2K Sports team has worked hard to make amends with this year's edition.

One of the modes gamers are buzzing about is MyPlayer, as a number of changes have already been confirmed by the 2K team. We'll take you through the rundown as there will be a new City, 2K Cruise, and MyCareer mode amongst a myriad of on and offline upgrades.

NBA 2K22 New City for MyPlayer online (PS5/XBS)

One of the biggest complaints gamers had of NBA 2K21 MyPlayer mode was the subpar online experience. It was the first year of next-gen 2K, as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles were released in the middle of the 2K21 cycle, so perhaps the game devs deserve a bit of a pass for the lacklustre product.

Now that the 2K Sports team has enjoyed a full offseason to work on this year's title, gamers can expect a much improved online MyPlayer adventure. Among the already confirmed changes for 2K22 MyPlayer online is a living, breathing city. Gamers on next-gen consoles will experience an all-new City filled with life and activity.

Taking note of other popular online titles, NPCs (non-playable characters) will be featured throughout the new city layout. As well as a new quest system offering MyPlayer's all-new ways to level up and earn rewards in these revamped PS5 and Xbox Series X|S basketball communities.

Another of the major gripes of 2K21, the matchmaking will be seriously upgraded in the 2K22 city. Among the additional quicker alternatives to find online games, MyPlayer's can now enter select matchmaking buildings to be placed into an immediate competition. These matchmaking sessions will be available for multiple game types and will contribute to all MyPlayer progress.

2K Cruise for MyPlayer online (PS4/XB1/NSW/PC)

For gamers playing on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, or PC, the online MyPlayer mode will be different and separate from next-gen. This unique online basketball community will be a neighbourhood built on the spacious decks of a sailing cruise ship.

Gamers will be able to hoop on the ship as it makes its journey through the seas, with the cruise even docking in exotic locales throughout the season. These docking events will feature unique shoreside events all taking place completely off the ship.

This will surely be well-received news amongst previous-gen console gamers as this shows much more effort and genuine care from game devs. Rather than just copy and pasting a dumbed-down version of the flagship version of the game, this unique experience will be something for gamers to look forward to.

NBA 2K22 MyCareer mode

For the first time ever in NBA 2K, both offline and online MyPlayer game modes will mesh as MyCareer and the City become one. As part of the all-new Next-Gen MyCareer narrative, explore the City, see new and familiar faces, and hoop your way to exciting new heights.

Among the new features in 2K22 MyCareer mode, is the off-court ventures of your player. Gamers can now pursue side ventures to build a profile in lucrative and trendy fields. Brush up against the fashion world, where the art of promotion will drive your success as a mogul. Or get involved in the hip-hop business, where your music talent opens up an intriguing lane in the industry.

Central to the MyCareer narrative and progress, your personal hub represents your place in the journey to the NBA. As your profile and ambitions level up, your home base in the City will upgrade as well.

Note: Gamers on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC will play out the new 2K22 narrative in a traditional MyCareer experience.
