    CDJ-900Nexus vs. CDJ-2000Nexus

Ok so they have a $300 price difference at the moment per deck.

For those who are familiar, including speculation from information provided from the demo videos, from the point of view of Serato HID, Traktor HID, and Rekordbox, is there anything about the CDJ-2000Nexus that is advantageous over the CDJ-900Nexus? Aside from hot cues.

They have an 2GB-32GB SD card slot for storing additional music and saving cues/loops on the fly inside the player. Two touch/brake platter adjusts AND a jog wheel tensioner dial. It has the needle search touchpad for jumping right to a point of the track with your finger. The needle search also doubles as a keypad when you want to search for a track on your media device (which has saved my life a ton of times when i forgot what playlist a song was on or didnt have time to search manually). I personally like the heads-up display better and the platter illumination LEDs if youre into that sort of thing.

I think you're comparing the CDJ-2000Nexus to the CDJ-900, not the CDJ-900Nexus. The 900Nexus has an LCD display.

No, I'm comparing it to the CDJ-900nexus. I like the display on the 200 nexus better than the 900 nexus....

Honestly, I like the regular 2000 better than the 2000nexus too.

You get what you pay for, the 2000 nexus is still crisper and clearer and looks slightly more professional to my eye.

JackStalk is correct...the 900Nexus does have a full color LCD display but it is no longer tilted/angled like the original 900 and now lays flat on player. I liked that touch on my original 900s but I doubt it would make that much of a difference in use.

I'd love to get a pair of 900Nexus for the infinitely better display and the ability to browse/load tracks from an iPhone/iPad. But alas, I really can't justify making the extra cost to upgrade for just home use and will stick to my original 900s.

Just from the pix, I can see that the 2000 has jog adjust and plays DVD-MP3 discs. There's also the hot-cue issue...

AND all the buttons light up on the 2000 vs the ghetto 900. Its an invaluable feature for dark rooms

The tilt up display, Pioneer does things, that doesn't really cost them, but is done to justify the price of the more expensive unit. For example, the 900NXS the display is tilted flat instead of angled. It wouldn't have cost them anymore money to make it with a tilt design. But they had to do it so the 2000 seems better. Another example, the 1000 and the 800 had a huge price difference, and the way they made the 800 inferior was to limit the pitch range to +/- 10 and +/- 100. I would argue that the software to give it more selection is not that difficult, in fact what's even funnier is on the 800MK2, if you played an mp3 CD, the max range is +/- 16.

And some people dont know this, but the 800MK2 actually has a jog tension control. You can open it up, and there is a selection of 5 clicks to harder or soften the tension, similar to a 1000MK3. I would guess the same is available on all full platter CDJ's that aren't flagship.

Of course they could put all of their expensive features on the lower model. Just like Chevy can put a corvette engine in a base model Impala if they want to. You gotta pay to play, and if you want the best bells and whistles you'll find them on the flagship unit.

Hey another thing to consider when you are buying CDJs is the resale value. 2000's are very easy to sell. I sold my 2000 MK1s to upgrade to the nexuses in a ridiculously short amount of time.

What's the difference between CDJ 2000 and CDJ 2000 Nexus?

Main difference between the original 2K's and the 2K Nexus' was the addition of the ProDJ Link which allows Rekordbox-analyzed tracks and their meta-data on USBs and SD cards to be shared across players, including bpm data for syncing.

Does CDJ 900 show waveform?

Navigation between screens is fast and, unlike the outgoing CDJ-800, the CDJ-900 features a waveform.

What CDJs do most clubs use?

Most hobby DJs use DJ controllers and laptop software, because it's a cheap, powerful way to DJ. However, most clubs have Pioneer DJ CDJs installed, which is a different way to DJ. If you want to play in clubs, you may decide you want to DJ on the Pioneer CDJs rather than try to take your own equipment with you.

Does CDJ 900 have hot cues?

The CDJ-900NXS does not include a hot cue function, so hot cues cannot be used on the CDJ-900NXS. To use rekordbox's music file management functions to their maximum, set the channel of the audio or coaxial digital input cable connected to the mixer and the player number to the same number.
