  • How much is entry to Australia Zoo?

  • How old does my child need to be to receive free of charge entry?

      Children are free of charge until the age of three. Children ticket prices apply to all children 3 to 14 years of age. At 15 years, an adult or student ticket can be purchased (student discount entry requires presentation of a valid student identification card).

  • What are your opening hours?

      Australia Zoo is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Some of our gorgeous animals go to bed at 4:30pm.

  • Is Australia Zoo open on public holidays?

      Australia Zoo is open 364 days a year. We close on Christmas Day – 25th December.

  • Can I use international student, seniors or pensioner card?

      Any valid international student, seniors or pension card can be used to receive the discounted entry price.

  • Does Australia Zoo offer a companion card discount?

      Valid Australian companion card holders receive a free entry for their carer.

  • What is included in the ticket price?

      Australia Zoo tickets include entry to Australia Zoo from 9am-5pm. Tickets include all of our action-packed wildlife shows throughout the day, plus children’s activities, including a giant jumping pillow*, the Laughing Frog Waterpark and tea cup ride*. We also offer a free shuttle service at the Zoo for your convenience.

  • Do you offer payment services such as Afterpay or Zip Pay?

      Australia Zoo does not offer Afterpay or Zip Pay services.

  • Do you ever sell out of tickets or turn people away because the Zoo is too full?

      With over 110 acres of gorgeous Zoo grounds, we have plenty of room to welcome all guests to Australia Zoo. We won’t sell out of tickets.

  • Do police, fire or ambulance personnel receive discounted entry?

      To honour the work of our current service personnel, Australia Zoo offers free entry to:

      • Queensland Police Service
      • Federal Police Service
      • International Police
      • Sunshine Coast Fire Service
      • Sunshine Coast Ambulance Service

      To receive these discounts, current identification must be shown on entry. These discounts only apply to the service member.

  • Do Defence Force personnel and veterans receive discounted entry?

      To honour the work of our Australian Defence Force, Australia Zoo offers a 50% discount to:

      • Current Australian Defence Force members
      • Australian Defence Force spouses
      • Australian War Veterans and War Veteran spouses

      Current international Defence Force personnel receive a 10% discount on tickets.

      To receive these discounts, current identification must be produced on entry.

  • Do Defence or Emergency Services discounts extend to my family?

      Defence and Emergency Service personnel discounts do not extend to family, with the exception of Australian Defence Force, Australian War Veteran and War Veteran spouses, who receive a 50% discount when appropriate identification is provided.

  • Is the price at the gate the same as tickets purchased online?

      Australia Zoo offers the same price on our website as we do in person at Australia Zoo.

  • I didn’t have my Annual Membership photo taken last time I visited, what do I do?

      On your next visit, enter via our Annual Membership booth and show photo identification so we can take your photo and print your membership card.

  • Can I upgrade to an Annual Membership once I’ve purchased tickets for the day?

      If you have purchased a one or two-day ticket to Australia Zoo, you can upgrade your ticket to an annual pass for $89. Visit the Information Desk or Admissions Gate before you leave the Zoo to upgrade.

  • I’ve left my Annual Membership cards at home, are we still able to come in?

      Absolutely! Please enter via our Annual Members or Prepaid Tickets booths at Admissions and provide your details to the Admissions team.

  • Can I book a specific date for a ticket?

      Tickets purchases through Australia Zoo do not require you to specify a date of visit. Tickets bought through the Australia Zoo website do not have an expiry date. If purchased through a third party, an expiry date may be applicable.  Please contact the seller for more information.

  • Can I bring my own food and beverage into Australia Zoo?

      Guests are welcome to bring their own food into the Zoo. Please refrain from bringing glass, alcoholic beverages or plastic straws.

  • Can I bring balls, drones or other flying or throwing objects to the Zoo?

      For the safety of our animals and guests, we prohibit the use of flying and throwing objects within the Zoo grounds. This includes drones, balloons, kites, balls and frisbees.

  • How much walking is involved?

      While Australia Zoo is spread across 110 acres of on-display habitats, our free shuttle service can transport you directly out to the Africa savannah.  Please also see later question: “Can I hire a pram, pull-along cart, wheelchair or motorised scooter?”

  • How big is Australia Zoo?

      Australia Zoo covers more than 110 acres that is accessible to guests.

  • Can I get to my car and re-enter the Zoo during the day?

      Absolutely! Visit our Croc Lair Gift Shop upon exiting and receive a stamp. Show this on your return.

  • Does the Zoo run normally when it rains?

      Rain, hail or shine Australia Zoo will be open and all regular Zoo activities will run as per normal.

  • What is the weather like at Australia Zoo?

      You can keep updated on the weather around Australia Zoo by visiting the Bureau of Meteorology and referring to the Sunshine Coast weather forecast.

      Sun protection including hats and sunscreen, and rain protection such as umbrellas and rain ponchos are available for purchase.

Services & Facilities

  • Can I bring a bike or scooter for my child?

      No bikes, scooters or shoes with inserted wheels are permitted inside the Zoo grounds.

  • Can I hire a pram, pull-along cart, wheelchair or motorised scooter?

      We have all of these available for hire at our Croc Lair Gift Shop at the front of the Zoo. See below for pricing.

      Pram or pull along cart: $20 per day

      Wheelchair: $20 per day

      Mobility Scooter: $45.00 per day (weight limit 135kg and minimum age 18)

      We strongly recommend you pre-book any of the above to avoid missing out on the day, as limited stock is available for hire. To book, please call our team on +61 7 5436 2000.

  • Is the Zoo wheelchair accessible?

      The Zoo is fully wheelchair accessible, including a lift and ramp to our Crikey Cafe and wheelchair viewing of the Crocoseum.

  • Am I able to take a wheelchair, pull along cart, stroller or pram onto the shuttle?

      Absolutely! Our friendly shuttles team can assist you with loading these items onto the shuttle service. Unfortunately, mobility scooters are not able to be put on the shuttles.

  • Is there free parking and sufficient parks?

      Parking at Australia Zoo is free, with hundreds car parks to cater for large numbers of visitors.

  • Are there seats and shelter around the Zoo?

      Across the 110 acres of Australia Zoo, there are plenty of shaded rest stops allowing you to take a break, before continuing your Zoo adventure.

  • Do you have rooms for breastfeeding or microwave facilities for feeding babies?

      We have parents’ rooms located throughout the Zoo. The rooms nearby the Information Desk are equipped with free microwave facilities.

  • Do you have smoking areas?

      We have two smoking areas. Please refer to your Zoo map on entry and look for the signs. We ask that guests refrain from smoking outside of these areas.

  • Do you have lockers for hire? How much do they cost and what sizes are available?

      We have locker hire for your convenience, located near the entrance. There is a variety of sizes to suit your storage needs. Payment options include Eftpos or cash.

      Small locker: $5 for 4 hours, $8 all day

      Measurements: 40cm x 38cm x 59cm

      Medium: $8 for 4 hours, $12 all day

      Measurements: 87cm x 38cm x 59cm

      Large: $12 for 4 hours, $15 all day

      Measurements: 59cm x 44cm x 90cm

  • Do you sell basic medication and sanitary products?

      Our gift shops sell a range of basic medications and personal products.

  • I think I lost something during my visit to Australia Zoo. Do you have a lost property department?

      At Australia Zoo we try our best to locate all lost property. If you think you’ve lost something during your visit, please phone +61 7 5436 2000 or visit our Information Desk.

  • Can I bring my dog into the Zoo?

      Domestic pets cannot be brought into the Zoo.

  • Where can I leave my dog for the day?

      There are local vets who can look after your dog during the day for a fee.

  • Can I bring a Guide Dog or Assistance Dog, or dog in training to the Zoo?

      If you or a member of your group would like to bring a Guide or Assistance Dog to the Zoo, please contact us on 5436 2000 or so we can discuss how to best facilitate your day with us. We appreciate you contacting us at least 72 hours prior to your visit.

  • Do you sell vegan, gluten free, halal and other dietary options?

      Our Crikey Cafe offers a range of vegan, gluten free and other dietary requirement options. All foods are marked accordingly, but please see a staff member on the day for assistance if required. We currently do not offer halal food options. View our menus here.

      Guests are also welcome to bring their own food into the Zoo.

  • Does Australia Zoo have a prayer room? 

      We do not have a dedicated prayer room at the Zoo, but there are plenty of beautiful grassed areas throughout the Zoo where a mat can be rolled out for prayer.

Events & Experiences

  • What is the difference between Animal Encounters and Wildlife Studio Photos?

      Our Wildlife Studio Photos offer an amazing opportunity to meet some of our gorgeous animals. You can meet a cuddly koala or spectacular snake for $39.95 and receive one 6×8 inch printed photograph and digital download. All times are subject to change.

      Our amazing Animal Encounters offer a unique, up close experience with the animal, which usually takes place within this animal’s home environment. Depending on the chosen animal encounter, you might get to feed or pat them! Encounters vary in price. To book an Encounter or find out more, visit our Animal Encounter information page.

  • Will the Irwin family be at the Zoo when I visit?

      The Irwin family live here at Australia Zoo, so be sure to keep an eye out for them in and around the Zoo. On special event days and school holidays, the family often feed the crocs in our world-famous Crocoseum. Check out our Events calendar page for updates!

  • What can I see for the $2 sneak peek of the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital?

      The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital $2 sneak peek includes entry into our purpose-built viewing area. You will be able to see the veterinary team and hospital in action as they treat sick, injured and orphaned wildlife.

      All proceeds from the $2 sneak peek support the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital and their quest to save our native wildlife.

  • Can I feed the kangaroos?

      Absolutely, you can feed the kangaroos at Australia Zoo! You can buy special kangaroo food from selected gift shops and our Information Desk for $3 per bag.

  • How long do your conservation shows run for?

      Most of our daily conservation shows run for around 20 minutes, with the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors show running for around 25 to 30 minutes. View information on conservation show timings here.

  • Do you have any water activities?

      All year-round guests can cool off in the Laughing Frog Waterpark, including splash area and giant water-dumping frog!

  • I have found some injured wildlife, what should I do?

      If you are within close proximity to Australia Zoo, call our 24-hour Wildlife Hospital on 1300 369 652.

      Within other areas of Queensland, call 1300 ANIMAL to reach out to your nearest wildlife assistance group.

      If you’re in another state or overseas, phone your local wildlife facility or veterinary clinic for assistance.

  • Do you have anything special for birthday kids?

      Children aged between 3 and 14 can be signed up to our Birthday Club! This entitles the birthday child to free admission into Australia Zoo on their birthday! Visit here to sign up.
