1.0 out of 5 stars Wrong item received messing kids gift. I received the wrong item inside the box! I made a big deal of the box coming from Santa as it states on the box. I was planning to read the elf on the shelf book to my toddler girl’s and have fun with our new elf from now until Christmas. Instead we got an Elf Pets package set with a stuffed animal that my girls had to share. I wish I could send it back, but of course I had to play it off to my girls because it “came from Santa” so I can’t take it away now. Problem is the book is not age appropriate and is too complex for them to understand so now I’m stuck with the wrong gift. This was our first year with our Elf. Our daughter was 6 in Dec. She normally does not get attached to things, but this she did. We had the crying for about 5 days leading up to saying good bye, Some of Christams day was sad for her as well. And now its about every 2 weeks she remembers and misses her Elf and sits on her bed wishing she would come back. Not sure it will ever Stop. Think Long and Hard before you start this with your child. About a week into that, my son got the brilliant idea that if Timmy has a girlfriend that he would then have help getting around and then we met “Beth” who was Timmy’s new girlfriend. She came with 2 cute little skirts that were fun to dress her in. For some reason her head looked huge compared to Timmy’s head who we have had for 6 years, so it wasn’t a real big deal-I just wondered why if they are adding to the elf family, why wouldn’t they keep everything proportionate? But, regardless- my son and Timmy both love Beth to death! I was annoyed to find out, after I got home, that if you get a girl elf, the skirt is not included and must be purchased separately. Of course the kids immediately noticed that she did not look like she did in the book and wanted to know why.
