If you wanna know who the canon Bardock is you can read Dragon Ball Minus or watch the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly. There you can see the official one, as well as Goku's mother, Gine. Bardock has always been canon though, he appeared on one page of the manga during the Namek arc in the '90s. Freeza remembered that he saw a Saiyan that looked like Goku when he blew planet Vegeta up. Although he took that image of Bardock from the special, we can say now that that whole story was never canon, as the character and events were written differently when Toriyama himself wrote Dragon Ball Minus. Then he wrote the script for Dragon Ball Super: Broly, following that special manga. Toyotaro drew Bardock's squad being killed by Dodoria and communicating with Bardock and Leke in one of his monthly special illustrations, as a possible attempt of integrating those cool characters into the canon story.
