Fireworks in Maine 4th of July

Maine (WABI) - Wondering how your town is celebrating Independence Day? Here’s a list of Maine communities hosting events:

AUGUSTA: 4th of July parade starts at 10 a.m. The parade will begin at the State House parking lot, travel down State Street, around the rotary, down Water Street, across the bridge – and ends at Old Fort Western.

Mill Park Activities: Food trucks starting at 2 p.m.

Kids/Teens activities 3-6 p.m.

Live music starts at 4:30 p.m.

TWO FIREWORKS DISPLAYS: Both fireworks displays will be happening at 9:15 p.m. - located across from Mill Park and across from Waterfront Park

BANGOR/BREWER: 7 a.m. - Kiwanis International 4th of July pancake breakfast

9:45 a.m. Road Race

Parade starts at 10 a.m. down Wilson Street in Brewer.

9:30 p.m. - Fireworks show at Bangor Waterfront Walking Park

BAR HARBOR: 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Pancake Breakfast at the Bar Harbor Athletic Field on Park Street. All proceeds from the event support The Bar Harbor (MDI) Rotary Club projects and local nonprofits.

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. PM Craft Fair/Marketplace at the YMCA, 21 Park Street

10 a.m. Independence Day Parade

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seafood Festival

3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Live Music at the Town Pier

9:15 p.m. Fireworks over Frenchman Bay

BELFAST: The Belfast Dept. of Parks and Rec. presents a Free Performance;

Songs of America

Songs of America, now in its eleventh year of wishing America a Happy Birthday, will be presented again this year on July 4th at high noon at The Park on Main on lower Main St, Belfast. In case of rain the program will be moved to the Belfast Boathouse on Front St.

A FREE presentation funded by Belfast Parks and Rec, is abut an hours long event that offers up song and brief speeches covering the years from America’s founding to the present . With music beautifully sung and played you will be sure to enjoy this nostalgic and heartwarming tribute to America.

Bring your own seating, sit on the grass, stay in your vehicle or just stroll on by! And sometimes you can sing along!

BOOTHBAY HARBOR: 9 p.m. Fireworks show

CASTINE: 7 a.m. 1K/5K Walk/Run Race; registration at town dock

10 a.m. Parade with food and games to follow

4 p.m. Town Band on the Town Common

9 p.m. Fireworks show

CLINTON: 10 a.m. Parade

9 p.m. Fireworks show- Clinton Fairgrounds, 1450 Bangor Road

DEER-ISLE-STONINGTON: 10 a.m. Parade in Deer Isle Village. The theme is “tropical flamingos” and includes Jimmy Cook, local UPS driver, as the Grand Marshal.

9:15 p.m. Fireworks show off the harbor

DEXTER: July 3 - Fireworks show, 9 p.m.

EASTPORT: 7 a.m. Annual Blueberry Pancake Breakfast at the Eastport Municipal Airport

9 a.m. 5th Annual Buddy Allen Car, Truck & Bike Show. Cars welcome to arrive at 8am. Judging begins at 10am. Bank Square.

FRYEBURG: July 3 - Fireworks show, 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

GREENVILLE AREA: July 2 - Fireworks show at dusk at The Birches Report, 281 The Birches Road, Rockwood

July 3 - Rockwood’s 13th annual 4th of July Boat Parade, Rockwood Public Landing to Maynard’s

July 4 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 4th of July Craft Fair, 12 Lily Bay Road

1 p.m. Parade - Greenville Junction to Greenville

LEE: 10 a.m. Parade - Forestry on Route 6 to the town garage on the Winn Road (Route 168)

MILLINOCKET: 10 a.m. Parade down Central Street starting at Tractor supply and ending at Veterans Park

MAINE, Maine — It’s official! The Fourth of July holiday weekend is just around the corner. For anyone looking to make plans, NEWS CENTER Maine rounded up some of the festivities happening across the state.  

Augusta
Not one, but two, firework shows are scheduled for Augusta. Both shows are set for 9 p.m., across from Mill Park and across from Waterfront Park.

In the morning, Augusta’s holiday parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. to the theme of Old Fort Western’s 100th birthday.

Activities are scheduled to take place at Mill Park beginning at 2 p.m.

Bangor/Brewer 

Fireworks are scheduled for 9:30 p.m. and are viewable from the Bangor Waterfront Walking Park area.

The Fourth of July parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. and will run from Wilson Street in Brewer, through downtown Bangor, and onto Exchange Street.

Jeff’s Catering and Event Center will also be hosting a Kiwanis International 4th of July pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The Maine Savings Amphitheater will be hosting a free concert in support of Chords for the Cure featuring performances by Dakota, The Stone Doctors, and the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. Doors will open at 5 p.m.

Bar Harbor
Bar Harbor’s firework show will take place at approximately 9:15 p.m., viewable over Frenchman Bay.

The Fourth of July Parade is set for 10 a.m. and runs through downtown, ending at Ledgelawn Avenue.

Other festivities include a pancake breakfast from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. hosted by the Bar Harbor Rotary Club, a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. hosted by the Island Arts Association, a seafood festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. also hosted by the Bar Harbor Rotary Club, and musical performances later in the day.

Bath
Bath’s firework show is scheduled for 9:15 p.m. viewable from the Waterfront Park area. The fireworks come as a part of the town's four-day Heritage Days festival.

Freeport 

The morning of the Fourth, LL Bean will be hosting a 7:25 a.m. 10K and 9:10 a.m. 1-Mile Family Fun/Run Walk. More information on both events can be found here. 

Houlton

Fireworks are scheduled for 9:20 p.m. and will take place at the baseball field behind Houlton High School.

The parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. and will start and end at the Main Street Catholic Church’s parking lot to make a mile-long loop.

Both the fireworks and parade are a part of Houlton’s Agricultural Fair scheduled for July 2-4.

Millinocket

Fireworks will be held at Stearns High School at dusk. A parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. beginning at Tractor Supply and ending at Veterans Park.

Millinocket is holding an Independence Day Festival from July 2-4, with many craft and performance events.

Moosehead Lake Region

There are many Fourth of July events happening in the Moosehead Lake Region during the week of June 27 and the week of July 4.

Fireworks are scheduled for dusk on Saturday, July 2. 

A parade will be held at 1 p.m. on the Fourth of July, and a craft fair will be held at 12 Lily Bay Road in Greenville from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day.

Other events include trivia, live music, and outdoor-related courses.

Naples
The Naples Fourth of July firework show will be held at dusk over Long Lake.

A "Past, Present, & Future America"-themed Fourth of July parade at 2 p.m.

Portland

City of Portland fireworks will be hosted on the Eastern Promenade and scheduled for 9:15 pm.

They will be viewable from East End Beach, Fort Allen Park, Amethyst Park, Baxter Boulevard, Payson Park, Martin’s Point on Veranda Street, and Bug Light in South Portland, according to the Visit Portland Maine website.

Sanford
Fireworks will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport for the second Annual Fireworks Extravaganza event. $10 VIP tickets are available for priority viewing and access to a beer and cocktail bar.

Thomaston

Events will be happening all day in Thomaston, including the Firecracker 5k road Race at 8:30 a.m. and the parade at 11 a.m. Fireworks are set to begin at 9 p.m. behind the block on Valley Street. 

York

York will be hosting firework events across two days at 9 p.m. Fireworks will be viewable at York Harbor Beach July 2 and at Short Sands Beach July 3. 

A Four on the 4th in-person and virtual 4K road race will be happening during the morning hours at 7:30 a.m. Registration will be open until 7:00 a.m. or until filled.

Those who want to launch private fireworks should check their town’s local fireworks ordinance when planning Fourth of July celebrations outside of scheduled community events.
