Event Window[]Show/Hide General Event Mechanics As you can see, the event window contains 7 main elements. They are:
The mechanics of this event are vastly different from anything else ever seen. To put it in a nutshell, the event involves playing a minigame, in which the player has to dig and explore a tomb which goes on infinitely. On the way they will encounter items buried in the sand which might be of value. Some of these are Golden Idols which help in progressing towards the Grand Prize. The player needs to use certain tools or implements for digging/clearing sand, which may be purchased using Scrolls. Each aspect is explained in detail in the following sections.Clearing the Way- Tools[]To progress on the event map, the player needs to clear sand in the tunnel. (S)he can do this with the help of certain tools which clear different parts of the tunnel. There are 3 tools, namely:
A brush clears exactly one tile of sand, and cannot be used on an empty or stone tile. It is useful if one wants to obtain a certain prize. Cost: 10 Scrolls
A shovel clears all sand from a column of tiles, provided there is at least one empty tile in that column. It can only be used on an empty tile and it only clears the tiles in the same column which are not blocked by stone. If there is a stone tile in the way, it will be blocked from reaching any tiles beyond it. This can clear up to five tiles at once (as each column contains six tiles, but must already have at least one empty/cleared to use a shovel), provided they are not blocked by stones. Cost: 35 Scrolls
Dynamite clears all sand from a 3 x 3 box of tiles, and is useful for clearing tiles on a large scale, or for clearing tiles in different columns. It can be placed only on an empty tile, and clears all eight adjacent tiles, including diagonals. It can clear up to seven tiles at once (as at least one of the eight adjacent tiles must already be empty/cleared in order to access the tile where the dynamite is used). Dynamite cannot clear a stone tile. Cost: 50 ScrollsHow do I get Tools?[]One must remember that depending on the situation, one might have different preferences for the tool required to be used. Tools are distinctive in the fact that they cannot be obtained from the rewards of quests. Instead, they have to be bought using the event currency, Scrolls. Tools can be obtained from the Tool Shop, highlighted in the picture. The shop sells individual items as well as 2 sets of the tools, with differing costs. It is important to keep in mind that tools cannot be purchased using diamonds. The individual costs have been mentioned above and the prices and components of the sets are mentioned below. The player begins with 7 Brushes, 3 Shovels and 1 Dynamite.Rewards and Prizes[]The sand contains several prizes and rewards of interest to the player. There are 5 kinds of prizes which are found from the sand, namely:
A couple of important things are to be kept in mind. While a light coloured sand tile that is not showing anything is guaranteed not to contain any prizes, it is important not to presume that just because no prize is visible on a dark coloured sand tile means that the dark coloured tile does not contain anything. The second thing to note is that after cleaning up a sand tile, the prize doesn't automatically fall into the inventory. The player has to manually click on the prize so that it is finally obtained. Also, as the player moves further in the tunnel, the earlier uncovered areas go out of sight and are finally left behind. Discovered prizes will then automatically fall into your inventory Besides the above, a Grand Prize exists which is obtained upon collection of 20 Golden Idols. A Daily Special is also available which changes every day and is obtainable from all vases and urns. They are mentioned in detail in the Prize Systems section. The Museum[]The player may find tablets when clearing the sand in the cave. These tablets are stored here. Each of the found tablets presents the player with an additional quest line. The quest lines of different tablets may be activated at the same time. The quest line of the same tablet may be repeated as many times as the tablet was found. The additional quest lines have to get started manually by the player. There are four different "Normal Tablets", three different "Silver Tablets" and one "Golden Tablet" to be found. The Silver Tablets hereby are rarer than the Normal Tablets and the Golden Tablet is rarer than the Silver Tablet. All quest lines consist of 5 quests each. If all quest lines have been completed at least once, the Historian Reward may be collected. The Calendar[]The player may find Gem Shards when clearing the sand in the cave. These Gem Shards can be found here. The first Gem Shard found each day is a complete one and will allow you to reveal the Calendar Reward for that day. Additional Gem Shards will fill a fifth of the shattered Gem. Five Shattered Gems will give you a complete Gem, this can be used to open any unopened Reward from previous days. Open all 21 Calendar Slots to reveal the contents of the Calendar Chest. For the duration of the event, one of the two treasure chests offered by the Nameless will always be a "Archaeology Event Gem Shard" chest. A maximum total of 20 extra Gem Shards are possible via the Daily Challenges during the event (which can make 4 complete Joker Gems). Gem Shards found after the calendar is complete will give 10 Scrolls instead. However any Gem Shards already collected when the calendar is completed are unusable and cannot be converted into Scrolls. Event Currency[]The currency of this event is Scrolls. They are different from currencies of other events in the fact that Scrolls by themselves are not used for clearing sand. Scrolls over here play an indirect role. They are used for buying the tools that clear sand. You also start the Event with 120 Scrolls. Logging in daily rewards you with Scrolls, as does completing Event Quests and the Milestones also rewards you with Scrolls and finally Incidents found in & around your city are the last way to get free Scrolls (5, 10, 20, 50 & 100 some may offer more). They can also be bought using diamonds: The player may be expected to receive the following amount of Scrolls if they complete the entire event and login at least once a day. Expected Scrolls to receive during the Archaeology Event
Quests[]Edward The event features two questlines presented by Edward. The Daily Questline, you will give you one quest per day, for the 21 days of the event. These Quests will stack until you have completed the Main Questlines. So you will not miss any if you do not complete the Main Questlines on the first day. After completing the Main Questline, you will be able to complete stacked Daily Quests without any delay and after that, one quest per day. Note: Where the word "some" appears in the quest text below, the amount differs depending on the Age the player is at. The Lower Numbers in brackets are for BA. The second number in brackets is for the SAJM. To get a better idea of your exact requirements Click Here and use the Tables provided, please be aware that the Final Table is incomplete as we do not have players from those Ages that could help. If you are browsing this page on desktop, you can click on each individual quest to mark it as done, thereby making it easier to keep track of your upcoming quests. Main Questline[]Quest 1:

Avatars[]Avatar Frame InnoGames have used the 2022 Archaeology Event to reintroduce some avatars from previous events. The avatars are obtained when a player clears a tile with a portrait frame while brushing away the sand, in a manner similar to obtaining the Vases.
Clicking on a clean avatar icon presents the player with an avatar. Please note you will only receive an avatar that you do not currently have, if you have all the Avatars then you are unlikely to find a buried portrait. Portrait
