Fram Tough Guard BOB is the oil guy

I am just happy the walmart near me stocks the mopar filter for around $5. I put them on my turboford as well.

Removing the filter you will only lose 1/2 qt, what is in the filter.
The filter sits above the pan so oil will not come pouring out.

I have been running Fram filters for years with no issues although I use the TG and I only change my oil twice a year, been doing it that way with Mobil 1 for 21 years.

I'm not going to spend $12 on a filter. Just something better for my money, but cheaper. Like $5-6.

To each his own I guess. Saving a couple bucks putting on a crap filter just doesn't make sense to me.

If you save $1.75 per filter, and change them every 4000 miles, you save a whomping $43.75 in 100,000 miles, or $11 per year for someone like me.

The K & N filter is a joke. 12-15 bucks for a filter that just has a nut on the end for a wrench? I watched one blow up on a motor. Only filter to EVER do it. It was brand new, BTW

ah damn, dont say that. i have a K&N for the RT. i think it i got it free cause i wouldnt pay that much for an oil filter. while im posting in here LOL i use fram and STP oil filters. gonna stay away from fram after hearing all the bad things about them

never had a prob with fram , though I usually changed oil at 25 - 35oo km's

Just change the filter --you don't have to drain or change the oil.

I personally install fram tough guard filters on everything i own and customer, or friends cars without a single problem..... About 5 years now

i believe fram tough guard is the same filter just with ptfe loaded into it. someone correct me if im wrong, but watch out for that. i dont think its good to put that stuff in your engine (may as well put motor up or duralube at that rate)

also the other filter names people are throwing out there may still in fact be a fram. companies who are not manufacturers of filters (mopar, valvoline, other oil companies etc...) will use whoever will supply them the cheapest, and their supplier may change from time to time. there are telltale signs for who the filter was made by. find it here. click on blue names for telltale signs.

for harsh winter areas i like the champ filters (that you can see a smaller set of holes inside) this lets thick oil right into the clean side of the filter rather than letting it drag dirt off the element.

WIX filters are only a couple bucks more than a FRAM; I buy them just for peace of mind. I too change oill and filter 2X/yr and use Mobil 1 5w40 in winter and 15W40 in summer. Never had a problem, and all cars I drive still have quiet motors. I do about 20,000 miles/yr.

It was probrably FRAM piece of garbage. If you still have it, take a picture of it and show us. WIX filters are made here. Also, if it was that bad looking, I doubt any script would be readable.

I always ran the Mopar V8 filters on my TD's. Walmart usually stocks them for a decent price.
If you're on a tight budget, the Walmart cheap brand of filter, Supertech I think it is, is much better than a Fram. It uses metal endplates, no cardboard. I use those Walmart filters when I'm breaking in a motor and know I'll be changing the oil 5 times in 3,000 miles.
For my other motors, like my diesel Rabbit, I run K&N filters. The metal they're made of is easily twice as thick as the next thickest filter out there. The nut on the end, eh, handy if you're an idiot that doesn't lube the seal before install or overtorques the filter on install. I've never used it, myself. The price of the filter is really a non issue to me, I'm more concerned with the price of the oil I'm putting in the car, it's really gotten out of hand lately.
Generally, when I see a car with a bright orange Fram filter on it, that's a dead give away that the owner is an idiot when it comes to cars. It's really funny when they're all talking big like they know everything about cars, and that bright orange POS is in the engine bay mocking them while they do it.. hahaha..
