Using operating system's Friend app I can see a list of online friends, yet I could only send them text messages. Is it possible to join whatever they were playing, or invite them to my game from there?

In game, when I play Helldivers multiplayer, I could open up a "Friends" tab, but there's no button to send them an invitation. I imagine if they were playing Helldivers right then, I could join them from there?
