I’m really happy to have found this site.

I guess I’ll have a Faux Hawk once I’ve found a good barber.

    • Hi Joe,

Glad to hear it! Yes, a Faux Hawk is a classic choice! Can’t go wrong!

Cat de lung trebuie sa fie parul pentru un man bun??

    • Hi Rares,

      Apologies, I don’t speak Romanian.

You can start with a topknot with about 10-15 cm of length. However, a proper man bun will need about 20 to 25 cm.

What about center part or “curtain cut” hairstyles? They were big in the 90s but seeing it come back quite a bit more recently. I don’t see this style listed on this site. Otherwise, great site!

    • Hi NN,

Very true, we didn’t cover curtains as they were very much out when we wrote the guides but you’re right that they’re starting to make something of a comeback!

I’m kind of confused if I have an oval or a round face.
But, undercut pompadour goes great with my face.

I’m wondering what is meant by “hardness” of a haircut. I have an oblong face and I want to try a fringe cut. The recommendation is to go for a harder cut. What exactly does that mean?

    • Hi Oliver,

Hardness is a term often used to describe angular cuts. This can be achieved with sharp contours or jagged finishes used with scissors. In the context of a side part, hardness is when the parting is accentuated by using a razor.

Meanwhile, a hard undercut (usually referred to as a “disconnected undercut”) is when there’s a distinctive difference between the length of the top and bottom as opposed to a fade.

Hii CP, actually i was looking for my face shape and to be honest it didnt fit well in any of the cases. My face length is more than check bone width, and jawline width is more than checkbone width which is more than foreheas width can you please tell me mt face shape. Otherwise your website is perfect for men. Keep it up Charlie ✌

        • Hi Aakash,

          Thanks for the kind words!

It’s possible to fit under several face shapes. In your case, it appears that you’re largely an oblong face shape with some triangle features. I recommend using both relevant guides and gleaning the most appropriate advice from them.

          All the best,

Hi! I’ve seen that this site is by far the best source out there to consult men’s hairstyles. I’ve seen this type of hairstyle where it looks like you have your head split in two and the hair on top is longer than on the sides, leaving a remarkably elegant effect. Do you have any idea of what this hairstyle’s name is? It would help a lot! Thanks!

    • Hi Sergio,

This sounds like either a pompadour or an undercut. Do either of these sound right?

Hi. I have a triangle face shape which is why Iv been trying to find a medium length hairstyle that’s right for me. However with the contrast between my jawline and forehead measurements being very different.Jaw-260 length-195 cheekbones-115 forehead-95 I have been struggling to build weight in the top corners. I have tried a low taper asking my barber to build as much weight as possible on the sides leaving plenty of volume on top just like this site says but still cannot balance the symmetry of the jawline. So I was wondering what you would recommend? I have seen great results after having mid fades in the past where there was a harsh dissconect but it soon grows out which is why Iv turned to the recommended medium length haircuts. My hope is that a longer haircut would allow me to keep those top corners balancing my jawline for a longer period. Should I try starting longer at the nape? If yes what would I ask the barber for? Is this just the case of my measurements being too different to balance? Sorry for the long comment. Thanks

    • Hi Stephen,

If a low taper and disconnect helped, perhaps it would be your best option even if it means more trips to the barbershop? Otherwise, you could try a medium-length haircut with a similar approach. However, I imagine that with someone like you who’s looking for very specific proportions, it may also lead to frequent haircuts to keep it balanced.

I’m honestly not entirely sure what to recommend here. Have you asked your barber what he or she thinks? You could always talk about having it longer at the nape and see how that would be possible to achieve.

      All the best,

      CP

Hey, I have a round face and was wondering would midpart/ side ish midpart suit a face shape like that.

    • Central partings tend not to look good on round face shapes. I’d suggest a side part instead.

      All the best,

      CP
