If you want our take on it, the new-generation of this flagship luxury sedan is remarkable in almost every way. Genesis is making a name for itself in producing quality units like the G80, and that means new car buyers are lucky to be able to access a premium model like this at what is still a relatively accessible price-point. Ride comfort is superb in the MY21 edition of the G80, thanks in no small part to a quiet cabin, accommodative suspension set-up, and comfortable seating. But as with Genesis’ other models, the depth of the equipment list is something else altogether, with nearly everything under the sun included right here. The G80 feels sophisticated and advanced from the outside, but the interior adds to this sensation, both in terms of design, as well as the intuitive tech and interface where everything comes together. A potent 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 tops the range, and it is imposing to say the least with 279kW of power and 530Nm of torque. The 2.5-litre edition is also quick off the mark, with great agility and composure. This is a car that is not only fit for purpose, but also feels as though it has a purpose. Charm, charisma, elegance, and exceptional value - what more could you want?

With a range of highlights that will make you appreciate the beauty and tenacity of this upmarket unit, Genesis has done an outstanding job developing a car that Australians will love. Execution is near-flawless right here, with the GV80 built to the highest of standards, offering excellent reliability, and also performing as great as it sounds on paper. Luxury really is an assurity in this large SUV, and Genesis has given it a rather unique style that also ensures it has a bit of personality and uniqueness to boot. With your choice between three engines, and four variants spanning both RWD and AWD, there is ample choice at hand, but no matter which option you go for, every variant is stacked with equipment, state-of-the-art safety aids, as well as an impeccable eight-speed auto transmission. While the size of the third row might be the only real blemish in the GV80, it’s easy to look past this shortfall when you turn your attention to the ride quality and cabin comfort at play. Seriously, Genesis has done a phenomenal job on this front, with a balanced ride, and a design that is unbelievably effective at noise cancelling. Just as you’d hope, the GV80 is also highly practical and perfect for any occasion, which is a true credit to the team for what they’ve put together.
