How painful is a spine tattoo Reddit

I don't know...I used tramadol, whiskey, and cannabis, though the latter two were more recreational at the time. My tattooist was self-trained, though highly talented, so his hand was rather heavy overall.

For reference, I have a tattoo of the presumed flags of my origin, superimposed on a motorcycle-style tread pattern, from just below collar line to about an inch below the beltline, about four inches wide across my spine.

I want to get a tattoo down my spine but I'm not sure how badly it will hurt and I already have back pain from having a spinal fusion when I was 14 (I'm 22 now, there's a scar down my back).

So I'm just not sure if it'll make my back pain worse, just be surface pain or maybe dealing with pain consistently I'll be able to handle it better than others? Idk

Hopefully a couple different people can help me out, I know pain varies so I'll be sure to not hold anything too much to heart but I just want an idea.

Thanks to anyone who reads or replies c:

I have my entire back covered and the spine wasn't painful for the most part. I have a bulging disc in my back so that hurts like a bitch but that is to be expected. As far as pain after the tattoo I don't really notice it no matter where the ink is located. It feels like a mild sunburn for a day or two and that is about it.

My ex also had her spine done and it didn't bother her much either.

I’m currently doing a full back piece, and let me tell you. Shoulder blade to neck area, it’ll feels like a weird burning sensation, pretty tolerable but I’ve only felt this in this area. The center of the spine isn’t great, line work is ok, shading/coloring is a bit more spicy. Rib area is an ooph. Love handle to butt area, prepare to feel like a carved ham, it’s super sensitive, I find it worse than ribs. Honestly speaking, if you’re doing a very elaborate very detailed full back piece, it will probably be you’re most painful tattoo since it has so many sensitive areas, and it really takes it out of you. Back pieces are definitely a heavy commitment because people underestimate how draining and intense it can be. My boyfriend has a completed 43 hour Neo Japanese backpiece, and he dreaded every session. I think mine own will end up around the 30 hr mark.
