Some games offer it up but it’s up to the developer. Haven’t seen a system wide setting

That would be pretty sweet. Would definitely like to see it.

Not quite your request, but you can confirm the current output to your monitor or TV by

  1. Holding the PS button

  2. Triangle to go to the top bar

  3. Settings

  4. Screen and video

  5. Video output information

  6. Resolution

I've just used that to confirm that Warzone is being output at 120hz.

Just because your monitor/TV has 120hz does NOT mean you actually get 120 FPS! Especially when you're playing a fast paced, gpu/CPU taxing game on 4k you most likely will not get 120 FPS no matter how much the person selling you the TV told you that.

level 2

Do you do this while the game is running?

My question is how do folks like digital foundry know exactly what the fps and even response ms is? They must use some third party hardware to accomplish this but have no idea what.

level 1

Knowing fps on console is counter intuitive. Really the best thing about playing on console is you dont have to worry or care about it

Being able to easily view has made PC gaming a bit worse for me as I'll spend a few hours in a new game perfecting the settings constantly looking at the framerate counter so I can maximize graphics and get fps to constant 60fps, even though I was able to enjoy just cause 3 on my pro without caring about framedrops into 20 so much.

If you can’t tell without a little number in the corner, then it’s really irrelevant. Some TVs have that ability tho, iirc, but not PS5.

Anyone find a game that shows fps? All I want is to test before and after with hdmi splitter to see if I’m losing anything

Saw a video with fortnite and it was a setting within the game. I assume it will be variable by game

Most monitors have a setting to display fps in corner
