Show The first series, directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., dropped on Amazon Prime video back in 2019 and has become one of the most popular web series since, ranking 4/5 stars on Amazon and 8.5 on IMDB. Manoj Bajpayee will reprise his role as protagonist, Srikant. A man trying to balance his life as a secret agent, while trying to protect his family from the dangers he faces in every day life. Fans are waiting patiently for the release of The Family Man season 2, so what’s the hold up?!

The Family Man season 2: Release date
(The potential delay is explained in the ‘Potential delay’ section of this article). Amazon Prime Video India confirmed the release date themselves after dropping the trailer on their YouTube account on 19th May 2021. They also pinned their own comment which confirms the date by saying “Mark your calendar guys ! New season of The Family Man streams on June 4.”. The series was set to hit our screens on 12th February 2021. However, the release of the highly anticipated series was postponed until summer 2021. Of course, it’s been months since the series was set to release so fans are getting antsy. Various outlets also said it could release on 11th June however, this is no longer the case. What also know that (on the basis it follows in the first season’s footsteps), the Series will feature dubs in various languages including, English, Hindi, Gujarati, Japanese, French, Italian and more! You will also be able to watch it in its original language (Hindi), with subs from all of the above-listed languages.
The Family Man season 2: Potential delayThe reason for the series potential delay is that the MDMK leader, Vaiko wrote a letter to the broadcasting minister. The letter showed concerns for Tamil citizens and leaders that said The Family Man shows bias in depicting Tamilians in a bad light. The letter stated “The I&B ministry should stop the release of The Family Man-2 on Amazon Prime. Otherwise, the people of Tamil Nadu will react seriously and the government will have to bear the dire consequences. Will be”. Since then, actress Samantha Akkineni retweeted a post from LetsOTT GLOBAL’s page, which shows a message from Rak & DK. The message from them addresses the concerns of Tamil citizens. It says “We are very cognizant of the sentiments of the Tamil people and Tamil culture and have nothing but the utmost love and respect towards our Tamil people”. They go on to encourage people to watch the series before making any assumptions or judgements. So, while it has not been confirmed that there will be a delay, the outrage by many people could mean the series creators will wait before releasing the series to sort out this issue. Should the series be delayed, this would be the second time as, in February 2021, directors of the series Raj and DK posted on their official Instagram account, stating that the release of the second series had been postponed until summer 2021.
However, there are reports that the original premiere was delayed because of the recent controversy involving the political drama ‘Tandav’, which was accused of hurting religious sentiments. According to a PTI source in the Hindustan Times, “The show has been postponed as the platform appears to be cautious. There’s nothing in season two of The Family Man that would hurt anybody but given the current scenario, to be on a safer note it has been decided to push ahead the release of the show.” Rumours circulating in early March stated that the series might be cancelled altogether due to new OTT rules from the broadcast ministry. However, Raj & DK took to Twitter to retweet director, Fenil Seta’s post which shows, The Family Man 2 is expected to release in June 2021.
