Is Lincoln Nebraska a fun place to live?

Rating 3.95 out of 5  822 reviews

I am currently living in Lincoln while finishing my degree. Lincoln is a big city that doesn't feel like a big city. Everything is easy to get to, and there is a lot of variety; a little something for everyone!

It's a very good city for a fairly quiet life and that's a good thing. I would definitely recommend it for people with families, especially those who have babies, toddles and middle schoolers. It's a nice place to raise your kids.

I moved to Lincoln (Nebraska) about two years ago and I have been pretty satisfied. it can be a quiet little town, but there are also plenty of ways to have fun.

Lincoln is alright, however there's a lot of areas that's having an increase in crime and they've become drug infested as well. I was never a fan of constantly running into strangers with an attitude of a child, or the fact that the drivers in Lincoln are not the best or brightest either.

Lincoln is just a big small town. Too conservative for me. A population of single men who post dead animals on their dating profile and think that will attract women.

As a multiracial person being mixed with Caucasian and African American in Lincoln Nebraska, there is not much diversity here, mostly Caucasians. I have lived all over America, and Nebraska has MORE diversity than places like Arizona (dominated by Caucasians) and Georgia (dominated by African Americans). The Lincoln area that I reside in is very family oriented, especially programs for single mothers.

I love Lincoln, Nebraska. We are thought to not have a whole lot, but actually, there are a lot of things you can do here. Our parks and libraries are fabulous, we have a lot of cute little shops, there's just a lot of different things you can get connected with.

It’s nice to have so many things close to you in really any direction, but the crime and drivers are an issue. Downtown has a bad rep.

Lincoln is a friendly city with both the feeling of a small town and the opportunities of a larger city. Lincoln is a great place for families, and for those who love the outdoors. There are lots of city parks and well-maintained bike trails.

I feel safe in this community and I feel like education and job opportunities are readily available.

Knowing that the cost of living in general is just really high, and it being the most expensive place to live in Nebraska at most times, I often wonder why. The football team is strong here yet sucks and can't keep a coach for very long. People also don't seem to know how to drive. Surprisingly there's more vehicular scenes in Lincoln than in Omaha. And as if roads conditions aren't bad enough, imagine lots of snow AND everyone parking on BOTH sides of the road leaving only a single lane for both directions. Crime is an increasing issue, more goes down in the bad parts of town than what ever gets reported or notified. I've seen lots of hookers and drug related issues as well.

Just like our states slogan, "It's not for everyone." Commute times may be short for most trips, that does not include trying to use 27th St. It will take forever to use 27th St.

I've grown up in Lincoln my entire life and what I can say is that it's an extremely safe and clean place to live. The public schools are also exceptional. One of my biggest critics is that it's very boring and while it's a city there's not much else to do beside shop.

I love the friendliness of Lincoln. I will admit that not everybody is a great driver, but many people will let you merge over easily.

I like the community of Lincoln and how a lot of the residents can be there for each other no matter what.

Lincoln provides the unique experience of having the amenities of a city with the charm of a smaller town. Activities and events year round for all ages. The atmosphere and energy during football season is unmatched. Great place to live either as a single person or raising a family.

There's a lot of art and fun places to go in the area. The buses are free for everyone so it's easy to get to places without a car. There are a lot of different types of independent restaurants that are also a great value.
